We visited Darlington in May 2011 for the first time in about 5 years. I think our chef’s name was Andy, and they did a spectacular job. The place was surprisingly empty for a Friday night which was odd, we were worried about getting in.

We did the wine tasting, which was a nice touch. I had the prawns on glass noodle salad for entrée, the salad was amazing in flavour, I wished that they gave me more. We had the sorbet between entrée and mains, which was rhubarb with white wine, and made an amazingly delicious combination.

For mains, I had the lamb that was soft, juicy and delicious. I also shared some of the duck which was even better than the dish that I had ordered. The highlight for me was the crème brulee dessert, which was absolutely flawless.

The meals took a little bit of a wait to come (which was a bit odd because there weren’t a lot of people there) was the only fault all night, and we were having a great time anyway.

I went with friends on Sunday 12th December. I ordered the salmon, which I found dry, I prefer it slightly rare. On the plate was one bean, one small potato, roasted grapes that I had to look for, a dash of tomato sauce, yuk, and some tasteless sauce. Over priced at $34. Entrees were shared and not bad. It took an hour plus for our mains to arrive. I thought the price of the wines exhorbitant for what they are, I could not taste your wines as I was driving. Certainly not value for money and not likely to recommend your place for fine dining. The setting was very good. There certainly was no shortage of cold water and the service was okay.

My family and I dined at the winery today and it was most definitely a pleasant experience compared to our previous visit a few months ago. My wife had the prawn curry and said that it had beautiful flavors. My lamb shank was a tad dry but the taste was divine so there was nothing to complain about.

Meals took over an hour to arrive with our previous visit and to be honest the taste and presentation of the meals made the menu seem ridiculously overpriced. Today's visit was nothing like that, meals were brought out on time with appropriate time periods between entree's and mains and the food was delicious and beautifully presented.

The service provided today was exceptional. Our waiter was very considerate and quite the comedian also. The waiters who brought out the food presented it with care and offered every bit of help they could. It was nice to see the owner communicating with his costumers as it shows that he cares about the service his restaurant provides.

I'm glad that we had experienced the professional and delightful side of the winery and I hope the standards are the same next visit to confirm that our first visit was a one off stuff up. Thanks for the great day.

Food was great - but the standard of service was dreadful, so I really think the prices are way over the top for the level of prefessionalism received. Staff were apologising constantly for their mistakes. Took ages for us to be actually acknowledged upon arrival. Then the waitress had to go back to the main entrance to check the booking. They stuffed up again on the drinks order (and still charged us for the mistake). Would have had to wait about 15 minutes for the cracked peper! But we'd given up after about 5minutes and had almost finished our meals when the waitress turned up with the grinder with more apologies. Pretty amateur really. They really need to lift their game - or reduce their prices!

    Response from Management:
Thank you for your feedback, we pride ourselves on the quality of our food and the level of our service. It concerns me that the service you received was not up to the standards I demand, or you expected. Can you tell me which day you dined, so I can identify the waiter and make sure this doesn't happen again. I would like to invite you to dine at our restaurant again, so you can see that your experience was not the norm.
    Thanks
    Andy (Owner)

Attended a Gardening Australia Function with talks presented by Josh Byrn and Clive Blazey. Had the most fabulous day and your staff were amazing.

I took my family there for Mothers Day lunch and could not have asked for anything better. The food, service, views and wine was second to none. Food came out quickly and between 8 of us we ordered nearly everything on the set menu and could not fault one meal.

My family are from the coast and could not believe the hidden gem I had shown them in the hills, they all have said they will return, looking forward to the lovely wine and that amazing rich chocolate tart! I look forward to returning and enjoying some beautiful food and spectacular views.

We thought we would try out this restaurant for Mother's Day lunch this year. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. This is an over-priced venue that fails to deliver. We waited nearly two hours for our mains to arrive, with the delay blamed on an intermittent power fault. When it finally did arrive, (just as we were getting up to leave), mine was cold. My partner's meal was gross. When I went to pay for the meal, I took along our salt shaker which had an insect crawling in it and said to the head waitress 'Well, I guess that really topped it off'.

Rather than an apology, I was treated to 'Oh well, that's the Hills for you'. If you want to waste $168 on a disappointing meal like we did, head on in to this place. Simply awful.

My husband and I went for Melbourne cup lunch and were very impressed. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly, warm and there was no waiting time at all, service was spot on. The day was a very enjoyable experience and have told many friends about this hidden jewel in the hills. We Wwill be back and thank you to all who made our experience a very memorable one.

The setting was lovely, great location and style, shame nothing else about the experience was pleasant. Visited the winery for dinner and found the food to be very below par and highly overpriced. Nothing like what I remember from a few years back, very disappointing. The wine has not changed, still lacklustre.

Went to this restaurant with 5 other friends. I am sorry we had the opportunity to dine at this place. If our food was not cold, it was over cooked and dry. The money that was charged for the main meals was absurd for what was placed in front of us. Such a lovely estate, such a huge disappointment.
