I've been here twice in recent months and have been absolutely blown away each time. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere pleasant (great music this time in particular - Leonard Cohen, perfect for a rainy afternoon). Then there's the food! First time I visited I had a pumpkin and red onion tart. I expected this to be at least quite nice, as the ingredients sounded good. What I got was just amazing.

A stunning looking individual filo tart, that impressed from first sight and kept on impressing right up to the last bite. The pumpkin was so soft and smooth it seemed almost predigested (much nicer than that sounds!) and the flavour of the whole thing was perfectly balanced.

Today I returned and had pumpkin soup (there's a bit of a pumpkin theme going on here!) While I waited to be served (not long, by the way - as well as being very friendly the service is top quality) I told myself not to expect something on the same level as the tart. After all, this was just pumpkin soup. Well, there's soup and soup is all I can say. This was absolutely perfect. Again, beautifully presented and a sizeable serve with the flavours perfectly balanced. It's a subtle soup: sweet, warming and comforting and again I enjoyed it to the last drop.

What a fabulous place! Being on a pension, the prices at Crema are slightly higher than I usually allow myself (although it's certainly not expensive) - despite that, visiting is a treat I will certainly be allowing myself again (and again) in future.
