    We went in search of lunch on a cold, blustery Sunday afternoon, and found ourselves at the Broken Hill. The dining room is large, sunny and airy with great artwork and comfortable seating.

    We ordered drinks and waited. We had to ask for a food menu, and we waited a while more. The food arrived, we both had tempura red emperor with chips ($18). The fish portion was inadequate - 2 very small pieces for me, 3 for my husband (Sexist? Surely not.) They were delicious however, and the lemon tartare sauce a punchy accompaniment. The chips were of the bog standard frozen variety, and not up to the standard of the fish. Our second round of drinks took even longer to arrive than the first. Lift your game a notch or two Broken Hill, and you'll be on to a winner.
