I had my 25th birthday in the 1898 bar and it was great all the staff were fantastic and very helpful with the planning of my private function. I thought the pricing was reasonable for our platters and cocktails and the staff sang happy birthday. Over all a great night and we always go back.

I recently held a private function here and it was the biggest mistake of my life. The Bayswater Hotel functions staff lack integrity, honesty and respect. I had booked the room for my "private" function from 7:30 pm - 12 am, however, at 9:30 pm they opened the doors to the general public because we "weren't drinking enough" (responsible?) and they were losing money. I had already paid them $350 for room hire for the night and $260 for four platters.

So my 18th birthday was crashed by groups of loud and rude older people, my "strictly invitation only" party? I had purchased a birthday cake which I couldn't cut because of the random people that were just walking around. They also refused to shut off the music for us to sing happy birthday and would not supply us with a knife to cut the cake or with anything to serve it on.

There was, however, one plus of the night, the lovely barmaid. The functions senior staff although, I would avoid her at all costs. I would advise to anyone who was thinking of having a function here or even going to the Eighteen98 bar - don't.
Over priced drinks and seedy characters, even at "private" functions. The Bayswater Hotel, I hope you enjoyed ruining my night and I make this promise to you, you will never see me, any of my friends or family, at your bars or restaurant. Ever Again.
