I've been going to Vietking since the opening night and fell in love with the place. The Viet Pancake is incredible, the soft shell crab sublime and the duck salad is to die for, as good as anything I've had in Asia. Hands down the best Vietnamese in the Hunter and one of the best in Australia.

What a poor excuse for a vietnamese restaurant. We ordered the spring rolls as an entree and when they were delivered I asked the waitress for the usual lettuce and mint to wrap the spring rolls in. I was told that lettuce and mint did not come with the dish and when I asked for them to be provided, I was bluntly told "No". Too bad that I was willing to pay for it!

The restaurant has a weird obsession with pickled, crinkle cut carrot that seems to come with everything, something I've never had served to me in the authentic vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city. I would advise against going here if you want a real vietnamese experience.
