Food 8 Ambience 5 Service 1 Value 5
Although I admit they have the most delicious Korean food I've tried, the customer service was the worst I've ever experienced.
On a Christmas/New Years public holiday, my parents decided to take our family of five out for a rare treat. I almost cried when our outing was ruined by the shocking attitude of a waitress there.
The store only had our family dining in there for lunch at the time and the rest of the workers there were having lunch at the same time. It seemed that her disengaged, distracted attitude was due to either it is her normal rude attitude to customers or she really wanted to get back to her lunch.
She couldn't leave our table fast enough when taking orders and her body inattentive body language suggested we were either stupid for not ordering fast enough or she wanted us to leave the store completely.
In addition, she couldn't place the dishes on our table fast enough. In fact, she put plate after plate of hot, burning dishes right in front of me as I was seated in the aisle as the table was right next to the wall. Although I indicated the dish should be placed in front of my brother or sister, she ignored me entirely and we were forced to move the dishes along the table ourselves as she continued to slam places down, even onto the edge of the table! This is completely ridiculous and unsafe! I do not see why she was so rushed as there were no other customers in sight!
My mother was upset as well, but none of us said anything as her English was terrible. However, good customer service is expected in any country and Korea is no exception so I am sure this girl with her overdone eye makeup would have known how to act correctly in her position.
I thought I would try again about two weeks later with a friend and we were served by the same girl. Her co-worker had a better attitude and was quite polite and friendly though, for which I am grateful. However, the senior staff repeatedly hinted at us to leave. Even going as far as slamming the bill down in it's folder on our table even though we were not finished and still had half a plate of food to eat.
The same rude waitress then came over to our table to ask us if we were done. When I pointed to the plate that was finished, she took it, spun around to look at her senior staff by the cash register and gave a great dramatic sigh. This was while the entire place was full. She clearly doesn't care how her attitude and behaviour is judged by other customers.
Like the others have said before me, the food might be tasty, but I doubt that such food can not be recreated in other restaurants. With such bad customer service on both occasions, I suggest everyone find another Korean restaurant to eat at, because no matter how good the food is, it is truly upsetting and frustrating to be treated in such a disrespectful manner. There are other Korean restaurants for the same price and quality.

The humble set-up and food which is as authentic as it gets in Box Hill has made this little restaurant a favourite of ours every time we felt like a Korean fix. Their Jap Che (sic) and Bi-Bim-Bap is spot on.
However, it was unfortunate that our most recent visit may well be our last. It began with three stomachs looking for a small fix (after a late lunch). A somewhat startled waiter commented "I don't think two entrees and a main is enough" to which we responded "We'll order more later if we're still hungry."
Throughout the meal the restaurant senior staff stood at the front door, stared at us and mumbled something unintelligible, stopping at one point to abruptly order a waitress to clear our table. Hoping to order dessert at that point, the bill was swiftly placed on the table an indication we were no longer welcome.
To conclude the evening the senior staff did not even look at me as he grabbed the bill and money. I guess you can equate the grunt that followed to a 'goodbye'.
P.S. smz "grunts" back.
