Bland boring food and poor service. Go here if you like mediocre food thrown at you.

If you like your food watered down and tasting bland, and the atmosphere similar to a 3 star hotel buffet then this is the place you should come to eat. Every dish was a bad version of the real thing and More expensive than what you pay elsewhere. I would skip this restaurant altogether.

Overall, worst buffet I have ever have. First of all, the service is the most crucial part of a restaurant. What can I said?! The service is extremely and beyond worst! When I requested the waitress to serve the food as soon as possible (after waiting for about 45 minutes without any food being served), the waitress said 'This is not my problem, this is the chef problem'..! Well, what can I said?! I thought they suppose to convey my concerns and solve it?!
Apart from bad service, the food is disgustingly awful. The sushi is not fresh, with one bug spot on the sushi! Simply terrible! Udon made with mainly soy sauce, sushi made with sour after-taste rice. The interesting part of the restaurant is that the chef in front of the customer Love to entertain the customer by throwing the food all around the floor! The funny bit is the waitress are so keen to clean the floor rather than serving other customer for food!
This is why generally you have to wait for food for more than 1/2 hour! Well, here are some suggestion or trick if you really want to try this restaurant: Make sure you make your own record about what have you ordered and what have they served, because your order could possibly just Lost or some un-ordered dish will serve to your table! Make sure you order your food as soon as possible, like I said, because you have to wait really long for it, and don't forget, you only have limited time for your buffet, what an interesting rule.

I have eaten at many Japanese restaurants around the world but Yamagata is by far the worst of them all. I went to the restaurant with my wife and two children and we ordered the all you can eat buffet. To begin with none of the sashimi was fresh and all of the other meals had the distinct flavour and aroma of a deep-freezer. To add insult to injury we were not allowed to order additional meals until all of our plates were emptied, like we were in a concentration camp. If you are looking for Japanese cuisine try somewhere else around the corner. It is far superior.

We went for all you can eat. Absolutely disappointing! I regretted that I didn't read people's review before going there. As soon as we arrived, we were asked if we were going to pay cash or credit card. Tax evasion! We were going to pay cash anyway, so that didn't matter. Nevertheless, the food was not up to standard, certainly not worth the value we paid for.
Cooked food came in plates full of cooking oil and raw stuff like sashimi was not fresh at all. Nigiri sushi was a traged,; the rice was soggy. For the food we were getting, one should not expect to pay more than $20. We left half an hour before our session (75 minutes session) and that's because at times we were waiting for our food. The worst was after we paid, the "baba" at the cashier just threw the change on the table and without even a "thank you". The only thing I gained from this experience was the visit would help you with your bowel movements with ease the next morning.

I have been to this all-you-can-eat buffet three times and the last visit was a really disappointing one. We were a group of five people and our overall experience was that the food was reasonably good but the service was somehow bad and rude. Apart from the usual missing orders, several orders end up delivered twice to our table.
Towards the end of the meal, we were quite full and there were two pieces of salmon sushi left on a plate. We ate the sushi and left the rice on the plate. A waitress came along and told us, in a rude manner, that we should just order the salmon and should not waste the rice. For god’s sake two pieces of sushi rice among five adults is by no mean a waste of food in any standard. We don’t like wasting food either and, therefore, we had been ordering our food in a small batch.
Overall I have the feeling that due to the lower margin made on the all-you-can-eat buffet, they are treating the all-you-can-eat customers like second class citizens. Most of the good reviews they received are from those Teppanyaki customers. I would rather they increase the price and give us some decent service and respect. We are paying customers, not beggars.

2 words: Never again! We (2 girls) went for the all you can eat last night. Food was terrible with very cold service.
The staff explained to us that to order, simply fill out the menu slips to indicate how many quantities you want for what items. We did just that, ordering as little quantities as we could as we didn't want to waste food in case we didn't like it. When the food came out, a number of items we ordered weren't there, to name the few: cut california rolls (2pcs), salt & pepper salmon (1 serve), tempura (1 serve).
Half an hour later we checked with the waiter and was told that all of our food had already been served! Daaah! We then had to fill out the menu slip again. Ok, fine, we filled out the menu slip again. Half an hour later (which was one hour after our initial order), the food still didn't come out. After checking with the waiter, the tempura finally arrived, which by the way the worst tempura we've ever had. As to the salt and pepper salmon, it still remains a mystery till now as it never made it to our table.
I reckon their trick is to serve all other "cheap" food first, in hoping to get the customers full so we won't bother to check/eat the more expensive food, which in my case, some never arrived. In terms of service, the wait staff refused to take the left overs away. They said they're not allowed to take away plates that still have food in it. Well helloooo... why don't try cooking it a bit better then!
Overall, it was an awful experience. At the end we couldn't wait to get out of there. Oh, and before we could made it to the exit door, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes until they served up the dessert, which by the way only a couple of scoops of ice cream (how hard is it to scoop some ice cream and put it in a bowl?).

A group of 10 of us went last night for a birthday celebration. Our Host/Cook was John - we had the best time ever, we laughed so much, the food was fresh and delicious, the entertainment was continuous. I think the venue really has it together and works well as a team, I think a lot happens behind the scenes that you wouldn't really notice which makes for smooth running.
My drink never became empty. And today I can't stop talking about it and laughing when thinking about some of the things that happened. Grab a good crowd and a celebration and check it out, our first teppanyaki experience and I'm totally thrilled.

Truly an awful dining experience. We went for the all you can eat. The food was greasy and oily, not fresh at all, and the air smelt of stale oil. Most of the food seemed to be of the frozen variety and then just heated up in oil. It was almost impossible to get the attention of the wait staff and they were not friendly at all. Definitely overpriced for what it was and I would never go back there.
