Continuing a trend over the past week, I wanted to reflect on my experiences at World Restaurant & Bar, which is located on the Southbank Promenade at around 5:00 pm on weekdays, the corporate suits like to use this as a place to celebrate beer o'clock and at other times it is frequented by tourists, shoppers and other rogues of the night. Besides for late Friday afternoons when the bar is overrun by people, normally I find the place reasonably relaxed where you can enjoy table service.

Booked and arrived on time. Was seated 30 minutes later. Food took over 1 hour 15 minutes and when we got it, it was cold. Staff weren't rude but they didn't provide customer service either. Wouldn't return, there's plenty of other places in Melbourne.

My partner and I loved this place. Such a cool vibe without making us 39 yr olds fell outdated. Service from greeting seating to timing and knowledge was spot on. Food was good quality without being outstanding but hey they've got everything right and we weren't expecting 2 hat food in this 3 hat vibe venue.

I would never go here again, after being hurried by all the staff (door, floorstaff, etc) I was then interrupted no less than 4 times by the same floor staff member regarding if I had decided what I wanted to eat, in a period off less than ten minutes! After our meals finally arrived I ended up feeling ill from under cooked steak.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had eating out in Melbourne. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

We had lunch here yesterday and really enjoyed ourselves. Nice food, really friendly service and cool ambience. I really want to try this place for dinner.

If you're looking for a place that has atmosphere and obviously a lot of work put into being a little bit different then World is the place for you. The menu items are expensive but you'd struggle to find a cheaper place on this strip. Worth a look. I had the Kangaroo Tail Penne which was rich and hearty, perfect for a cold night. My partner had the Thai Beef Salad which matched mint and coriander. A bit hesitant of course but it was an interesting and delicious concept.

I must admit this place really lulled me into a false sense of insecurity in that I really didn't expect to get good service but they are friendly and welcoming. It's almost like your local Brunswick hangout on steroids. I highly recommend World if you haven't tried it yet.

Seriously, having a live band in a restaurant is really not the best dining experience in the world. Despite being the other side of the room from the band (who admittedly weren't all that bad) I had to shout myself hoarse just ordering the food. Conversation with everyone at our table wasn't an option unless they were sitting next to me. It took me about 10 minutes to pick a beer from the list where I didn't feel like I was being taken for a ride. And then I had the most expensive lamb chop known to humanity. Which really wasn't worth nearly $40. Avoid this place unless you're deaf and have very deep pockets.

The staff at this place are so friendly,it's so refreshing! Went here recently to find they had just changed their menu. Food was delicious and I want to go back to try more of their street food selection. Highly recommended.
