Wooga North Melbourne

Wooga (woo means beef and ga means house) is a Korean barbecue restaurant built around beef, grilled by diners at the table, eaten with feisty side dishes (including fermented cabbage kimchi), rice and soup. Wooga is one of three Korean barbecue restaurants opposite Vic Market. The place is always full, fun and abuzz with activity.

Food was okay as most of them are cooked by ourselves over the barbeque pit. Ambience was good. However, service was bad and staffs were ignorant. We had to wait for 10 minutes before getting the menu because they did not have enough menu list. Staff acknowledged us when called, but only come after 10-15 minutes. Tea was brought to us after asking for 3 times. Took them 10 minutes to get the bill and another 15minutes for the change. Spent 2 hours for dinner of which at least 45minutes were waiting time for response from staffs. Would never go there again.

I have taken many friends here and they have all loved it. I adore this place! Never ever disappointed. The food is delish! I love it! The first time I went we were helped navigate our way through what to order, with a smile and patience. Yes I agree the staff are not fluent in English, however, I have never found them rude or arrogant. If whether your wait staff are fluent in English is such a big deal then I suggest you head to Pizza Hut.

We came across this place and decided to go in for a try because if the place is packed with their own 'people', it should be good. And it was, still is good. Sure, they're not fluent in English but we managed each time (yes, it has become our regular Korean hangout) we eat there.

The service is a bit slow when the place is packed due to lack of staff. But if you go in for an early dinner, they're all yours. Courtesy begets courtesy so we have no problems with their staff at all. Good place. And because it is good, you need to book in advance.

Service is extremely awful. Staff ignore you, and walk away whilst we were trying to order 3 times in a span of 5 minutes. Arrogant and rude staff who clearly feel they should not be working there. Management is the same.

We came across thr Wooga by chance and decided to give it a go, and what a nice surprise! The staff have quite limited English language skills, so when we asked them about what was good to eat, they stuggled to give us meaning full assistance, so we took and punt on a couple of dishes , a Kimchi Pork Soup and another dish which had as its basis, sweet potato noodles.

Sounds weird but it was just lovely. A really interesting range of flavours but like all good Korean food, very spicy. All dishes come with a range of Korean pickles, which were almost a meal in themselves. Lots of others in the restaurant had barbque style meals which looked really tasty. Very informal, and popular with Koreans, who made up most of the patrons.
