The service here was the worst I have ever had!!! Firstly we were pointed to our table which was still dirty from the last customers! It then took a long time for our menu to arrive, so we ordered 3 soft drinks and they didn’t get that right.

When it came time to order, we decided to share an entrée - the waitress gave us a filthy look because we chose just one entree (which had 3 servings - one each!) and questioned it - twice! We then continued to order. When our meal was ready they brought out the mains before our entree.   

All wait staff were rude and not at all helpful. It wasn't just our table - a few tables were having the same problems and another couple walked out!!! If it wasn't so late we also would have walked out! Luckily for this restaurant the food was pretty good, so once we got our meal, we did enjoy it. However, I would never consider returning due to the terrible service!

Seldom disappointed. Have had Yum Cha sessions only. Understand the four price sections and enjoy a real treat, flavour and variety. Always busy and interesting. Not too noisy.

We go there when in Melbourne (ex Geelong) we travel on the train/tram especially for the Yum Cha but never had a night time meal. Best Yum Cha (generally) but can vary on some days. Highly recommend for Yum Cha.

The food we had was ordinary, certainly nothing remarkable about it. We’ve eaten far better Chinese food in the suburbs, at better prices, too. The service was patchy, but to put this in context, our group was there on a reasonably busy Saturday evening. There are lots of other places to eat in Chinatown, and next time we will try elsewhere.

On a girls shopping trip to Melbourne some girlfriends and I chose this restaurant as it was filled with customers (usually a good sign) and the menu read well. Waiting staff rude and indifferent, food average and overpriced. Food did arrive quickly, however, we felt as if that was only to feed us and get us out quickly to make room for more customers. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant, many others to choose from in Melbournes China Town.

Westlake restaurant is your typical Chinatown restaurant, with dated decor, dishes for Western tastes such as Lemon Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork and not the greatest service. If you want a quick Chinese meal in the city then this place will satisfy.

You come to Westlake for the Yum Cha and not the service. Best Yum Cha for money value in Melbourne. Thats why my partner and I have been going there for four years and why we always take our overseas guest there.

One of the worst meals we had in Melbourne. Everything was either overcooked and dried out or covered to sauce to mask the fact that the produce was not fresh.

I don't understand why the lines are always so long to get into this restaurant. The service is average and there isn't really anything special about the food. Do not, under any circumstances, order fresh fish from the tank. We made the mistake of doing this and it cost us $150.

Terrible service! Being treated as if we couldn't pay. Ordered a few dishes and waited like 20 mins for it. The peking duck came first and it was cold and dry. Asked for some sauce & the waitress said rudely 'doesn't come with sauce' and simply walked off.

Complained to the captain who apologised and said will bring the sauce. But it never came. Fed up with all the waiting & cancelled the other orders & asked for bill which came super fast! The duck wasn't particularly nice.
