I had never visited the warrandyte retreat before, however my friend suggested we go for dinner as she had a entertainment voucher for the restaurant. I could not say a bad word about this restaurant, its a family owned business with friendly and prompt service. The lamb shanks were divine and my friend ate the pork belly which she said was the best shes eaten. Definitely be back with my family.

I visited Warrandyte Retreat on Sunday for lunch with my wife. I think it is very safe to say that the establishment is far from a retreat, rather an insult to my paying dollar.

The menu was rather good, it had offerings unlike anywhere else in the area. They have gone out of their way to have a better menu than that of their competitors. However, they could not pull this off.

The food is, sadly, some of the worst I have ever had. Over cooked seafood, undercooked pizza. Seafood was obviously not fresh, it had an off taste to it. Drinks were over priced, and of very poor quality. My coke was warm and flat, and my coffee with dessert was sour and cold. We had to wait a significantly long time for our food. The table next to us, ordered after us, yet were served their entrees and mains before we were served our entrees.

To top this off, I believe it was the senior staff spent a good 5 minutes or so talking to us about the "improvements" made over the past few weeks, while we waited. I would have rather spoken to my wife, as work commitments only leave us with weekends together. Furthermore, I would have preferred my food, 45 minutes for garlic bread is just too long.

If there were "improvements" made over the last few weeks, I regret saying that this restaurant must have been in a bad state before, because it is sure nothing to write home about now.

Came for my birthday dinner sat outside on a warm night, absolutely beautiful with music in the background. Food was sized really well and delicious I had the salt and pepper squit, I have been here once before but apparently changed owner and chef since, great improvement. Dessert was delicious, lemon and berry tirimasu, very zesty and refreshing. Thankyou will be back again!

New staff, new menu - every visit gets better and better for dish selection. I've been a frequent visitor for many years and have never had a disappointing meal. Staff are very professional and extremely friendly. Definitely worth the visit.

We have visited a few times with friends and family! Food and service always good! Visited the Warrandyte retreat this week and the meals and service was very impressive can see a great improvement! New menu and new owners highly recommend!

Waitresses' service, disappointing! Robots would be more friendly and interested. Lamb shanks were 7/10, chicken was 3/10. Good sized entree, Saganaki, salty but tasty. Wine glass very dirty. Organic coffee beans but no organic milk. Go figure!?

Footy Finals Friday so fairly quiet! Cold night but warm inside. 3 of us had Pork Belly and all loved it, I'm on a quest for the perfect parma and mine came very close! Great value and the service (that's the lovely Paige with an "I") was super.

Had 6.00 pm dinner as we have young kids, service was beyond rude. No greeting no smiles, meals and drinks slammed down, caught waiter and kitchen staff bitching and staring at us over a counter?

Had flat head tails could have been a frozen meal, dry as, unpleasant greasy sides. Very disappointed as my Mrs has had good meals there before. Had entertainment book discount (25% off), got the discount and the girl gave the discount voucher back and said to come again, obviously struggling.

Disappointing fish - $28, Mrs had avg pork belly (rubberry crackle) $28 and kids fish and chips $10. 2 beers and one cocktail topped out at $100. Mrs and I both agree, local fish and chips far better for service, meal and value for money. Sorry Mrs I Won't Be Back!

A fantastic place for a light lunch if you are looking for something other than usual offerings. Exquisite menu and friendly staff. Salt and Pepper squid to die for. Good coffee.

We love our Retreat in Warrandyte. The staff are always wonderful and Matt and Ryan are a brilliant team. The food is always lovely and the presentation of some of the specialty dishes, beautiful. The outdoor area is always lively and a great place to watch Warrandyte go by. The whole family love it!
