Good food but typical me-too modern Australian at over-inflated prices. The service is excellent if you are disabled, but I can unfold a napkin and pour my own wine and would prefer not to have hovering waiters in my face every two minutes. Ditto the glaring, bell-ringing head chef. One gets the feeling the northern suburbs are desperate for "fine dining" restaurants to lighten their wallets. All in all, over-rated.
I have been to many good Melbourne restaurants and rate this as one of the best. The place has a lovely feel, the wait staff are very experienced and the food is absolutely excellent, not cheap but well worth every cent.
Having visited Va Tutto recently for lunch I was most pleasantly surprised as to what was on offer, from the decor, ambience, waiter service and quality of what came from the kitchen that is clearly visible from the dining area.
Wine list both bottled and "by the glass" was comprehensive as was the food menu. Definitely recommend the lasagne served with shoe string fries and Greek salad. Quality of the food was outstanding as was the presentation and suddenly the slightly higher than expected price tag became irrelevant. Eagerly awaiting my next visit and will certainly share my experience with family and friends.
When you walk into Va Tutto you can't help but feel proud to see a local restaurant buzzing with atmosphere. The open kitchen really makes me feel as though I'm part of the action, and definitely keeps you entertained throughout the night. After travelling through Itlay recently, it was very hard to find a pizza that matched the quality of Va Tutto's and the roasted Rockling with scallops, one of my favourites, literally melts in your mouth. You can't argue with price when quality overrules.
I have lived in Ivanhoe most of my life and have also travelled the world and dined widely. Va Tutto could be a great place if it just did 2 things, remove the arrogant, smug, insincere female manager who continues to make people feel like the restaurant is too good for you, and the second is, make the servings just a little more substantial. The rest is good, the food is fresh and interesting. However, I've been there enough times now including today, to now permanently take this restaurant off the list.
I am a regular customer at Va tutto and as most reviews have stated it's great to FINALLY have a good local restaurant. The food is always of the best quality, I highly recommend the sashimi plate and gnocchi (2 of my favourites!). Many people have commented on the hurried and busy atmosphere, I think thats a sign of a superb restaurant.
The hard work put in the preparation, planning and cooking of the food is evident in the consistent quality that I have always experienced. The floor staff are welcoming and friendly and always go out of their way to make me (the customer) happy! Va tutto is definitely my number 1 place to eat!
It’s hard to compare Va Tutto to any other restaurants in the area. Whenever we dine there it is always busy however, they are able to handle the demand and handle it well. The food is always of the highest quality and the service to match. I currently work in the industry and always find my dining experience enjoying and never leave without being satisfied. I would recommend Va Tutto to any individual who wants a great dining experience.
I know it's probably a little unfair to harshly judge a place on only our first visit but I find it hard to stomach rudeness. They say first impressions last and let me tell you the first impression we got upon entry at Va Tutto was ordinary. The female host was flat out rude and arrogant, it felt as if she was doing as a favour by seated us. We should have left then but persisted.
The waitress was pleasant and the food to be honest was pretty good. The mood of the room was a little 'uptight' for our liking. Comfort is king when dining and we both felt uncomfortable. I believe a restaurant of any calibre should provide the complete package of warm hospitality, great food and great service. Unfortunately, Va Tutto failed on all counts except for the some ok food. The food would of tasted a lot better if our overall experience was a good one.
Good but extremely busy. Good for group but not so good for couple. Food very well presented, not cheap but OK for quality provided. Varied menu. Ranks well against city restaurants.
How lucky are Melburnians, we have so many wonderful restaurants to choose from that it's hard at times to pick a favourite. But Va Tutto is it!! I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know and many of my friends have dined at Va Tutto and are now regular customers. You don't have to drive all the way to the city to enjoy such wonderful food and service.
The food is delicious every time, consistently wonderful. My husband loves the tasting plates, they are very special. The pavlova is "to die for" and worth every calorie. Don't die without experiencing any of the sweets ladies.
I recommend Va Tutto unconditionally, the prices are fantastic, the food is a gastronomical experience, the wait staff are interested in their job and make the evening so much more enjoyable, why would you go anywhere else. Don't forget to book or you will be disappointed. Va Tutto is so popular it is sometimes hard to get a table. Not many restaurants can claim that!
