We are regulars at Trapezi and many of our friends are now converts! The food is always good, especially the entrees and the goat when in season. As it is such a small venue it can get loud at times (that may also be our group!) but a full house is a good sign. The staff are great and George is always friendly.

We had our Christmas work function. We decided to go the meat and seafood set menu. The food was delicious, tender perfectly marinated and very generous.
    Highly reccomemended.

Ps. We dinned last week with a few friends, this time we tried a few entrees and went for main meals and a selection off the specials board. The red caspsicum dip like no other dip we've tried before, wonderful. The octopus was so so tender and juicy, the saganaki cheese perfectly cooked and delivered flamming. Mains were giovetsi a classic peasant dish as we were advised by the owner was amazing, baked lamb with rissoni in tomato salsa with shredded saganaki cheese, yummy.

The whole baby snapper done like only greeks can do fish. Seafood linguini was excellent done in olive oil was light and seafood were fresh. The saganaki prawns in tomato salsa with rice and saganaki cheese were divine. Yes, peoples I'm hungry again, best I rustle up the crew and head back soon. Highly recommended!

Trapezi wa recommended to me by a friend, I also had read wonderful reviews 2 weeks running in the Herald Sun recently. So I gathered a group of friends and headed down to this restaurant everyone's been raving about. I and all our friends on the nite have been converted!!!

The food was simply divine, the meat and seafood was tender, cooked perfectly and so wonderfully tasty. These Greeks do know how to marinate there meats and fish! The owner, George was a gem. He was attentive, funny and when complimented just humble! The service was just fab. Highly recommended!

We had a great evening at Trapezi. As with many Greek restaurants, we were served a huge amount of food which our group (of 6) were unable to finish but the food was very good and the staff looked after us very well.

The first thing to greet the new diner to Trapezi, is an officious sign, prohibiting dancing on tables, the smashing of plates and of course, any form of smoking. Whether this is a bit of a joke or a real attempt to guard against litigation, I’m not sure. Once inside, however, the memory of the house rules fades, as the interior is warm, very cozy, with a good view through to a very busy kitchen.

The place was virtually fully booked, yet we managed to grab the last table in the house. We were seated with menus and a bottle of cold water and two ice filled glasses. A great touch, one which more establishments should copy. Too often, water on the table is seen as an after thought, as it’s not revenue positive.

Trapezi does market itself very well to diners. Hand written cards advertise “Lamb and Pig on the Spit” nights, as well as nights of live music. Specials, crayoned onto mirrors, included Kid goat, baked lamb and many other dishes with exotic sounding Greek names.

The menu is comprehensive, with the usual Greek fare. The wine list shows good variety, however, I opted for a VB longneck, cold to the point of freezing and truly “ aaahhhh” .

We tried Sagnaki cheese served in the cooking pan, and dips for entrée, then shared a mixed grill platter and a seafood platter. As with many Greek restaurants, the average Aussie lad won’t leave hungry. The seafood platter offered char grilled prawns, whitebait, a wonderfully tender calamari, and a perfectly cooked (Snapper ??) fillet.

The mixed grill platter included lamb cutlets, pieces of slow cooked lamb, magnificent rissoles and chicken skewers. We finished the night with Baklava and Greek coffee. The only negative is the prawns and lamb cutlets had a slight “burnt oil” after taste, possibly due to an overworked char grill.

Throughout the night, the service was attentive and efficient. Our meals were timed to perfection and the waiter was happy to recommend dishes. A touch over $100 for two, Trapezi is reasonable value. The entire restaurant would seat under 100 at a guess, which is not a lot of covers, considering I counted at least 8 staff. However, I’m sure this restaurant is pretty full on most nights. Yes, we’ ll go back to Trapezi.

Innovative menu but still traditional Greek food. The service each time has been very good and Harry the waiter is truly amazing. He always remenbers what we ordered to eat and drink from each visit. The slow roast lemon lamb is wonderful, as are the dips. It gets very busy, especially on Saturdayy nights, and in summer it is well worth pushing to be seated in the back courtyard so you have room to enjoy the food and service. The wine list is not large but has a reasonable selection.
