I used to love this place, the ambience and the food were outstanding. We were there every week and regularly with parties of 8+.

But for the last 1.5 years, though I keep trying, I can't have a single good experience there. The food standard has dropped dramatically. My last meal there was an undersized serve of salmon pappardelle with far too much salt in the sauce. What used to be my partners favourite dessert (the sticky date pudding) featured awfully burnt caramel sauce. It goes on and on and, unfortunately, this is about the third time I've tried to go back since the downhill slide began.

So disappointed, this place used to be brilliant. I hope to see it back on track.

My partner and I decided to try Tonik after recently moving to the area. The waiter informed us they were down one staff member for the night, so apologised in advance if there was a slight delay in our meals. The place was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday and we were lucky to get the last remaining table upstairs. That was ok because we didn't have a booking, but downstairs seemed to have a more ambient atmosphere.

Being Wednesday it was their advertised "$12 steak night" which pleased me. The steak was served with an ale and side salad, and cooked just to my liking. My partner was happy with her saganaki and the range of organic wines available. Will definitely be going back to Tonik soon for another steak night.
