The big plate of pork spring rolls is great, there are plenty of us and we quickly cut into the lettuce and herbs before wrapping up our rolls and dipping into the big bowl of aromatic sauce.

The Maccas of Vietnamese food - and I mean that in a nice way. Consistently tasty food reproduced time and time again to a respectable level. You know what you are getting....Fast, cheap and tasty dinner at a bargain price and with no frills

Poor old Thy Thy. One of the originals and best on this strip, it is now looking very tired, if not a little grotty. Food is still pretty good, and it's cheap, but others have more appeal.

Visiting from Sydney for the weekend, this restaurant was recommended. We managed to get a table without a booking and had a wonderful meal. I recommend the crispy quail!

This place is all about rotating as many customers as possible through the restaurant on any given night. There is no premium placed on quality service and there are few smiles on offer. The food is ok though and you can bet that you'll find consistent food quality on each visit. All starters and mains come out at once and the service staff really don't care that much about the quality of your dining experience. For a decent Vietnamese feed at low prices I'd be happy to return any time.

It's funny, in the mid nineties this place used to have a queue going down the stairs and on to the street while a restaurant owned in the same interests sat virtually empty just up the road. Thy Thy 1 was ok then and it is ok now. Won't be disappointed but won't be blown away either.

The decor is very basic. Tables remind me of primary school days, complete with butchers paper table cloths. I call it 'shabby chic'. Any you will probably be sitting shoulder to shoulder with the stranger next to you. But there is something very cool about the venue and the patrons within it. The food is fantastic and very cheap. The service is great and lightning quick. I usually get my entree within 5 minutes! The staff are very cheerful and relaxed. Highly recommended!

Most importantly, this restaurant gave us something for free. I was teaching my little sister how to eat with chopsticks and the waiters watched. Throughout the meal they kept an eye on the proceedings and they smiled when she picked things up. It was almost a whole venue effort. At the end of the meal, I wanted to get some deep fried ice cream (to show my sister) and the waiter gave it to us for free. Although it is kind of buying my opinion, I was really impressed. I will definitely go there again.
It was not expensive, the variety of dishes in their banquets are wide and so we were able to (for little money) savor several different dishes of Vietnamese cuisine in a safe and friendly place. The overall "fast Asian food" look of the place with the simple tables and chairs detracted from the experience, but we did not go there for fine dining; we went for Vietnamese.

The food has been dumbed down, the staff are abrupt and the atmosphere lacks the charm and pace of other good value restaurants. If you want authentic food, try eating where the Vietnamese people eat, there weren't any locals here and now I know why.

Love the satay chicken skewers! Service is fast. Place is a little cramped but great value for money.
