We used to come here a lot a few years ago, then they changed chefs and the food wasn't nearly as good, so we stopped coming. Then they changed chefs again so we thought we'd give it another try. And we're glad we did!
The service here is always fantastic but they've trimmed the winelist somewhat, which I'm not a big fan of. On to the food - the sweetcorn soup with tarragon and pumpkin seed oil is divine, as is the prawn tortellini, steaks are perfectly cooked and tender, and the duck the same. A little expensive but that's what you expect given the location.
What we saw of the food was very very little, not much on your plate and the price was outrages for what we ate. We had to wait a very long time for the food to come out and when it did, the beef was so tough it couldn't be eaten and had it sent back.
I had heard little about this restaurant and on a summer's evening the menu variety was enticing as was the chance to sit riverside on the actual deck. Everything we ate was superb from the wonderfully delicate crab meat mousse with green apple puree to the flavoursome duck breast risotto with sage and balsamic reduction.
Similarly it was impossible to select from the desserts but the valrhona chocolate marquise and the creme fraiche semi freddo were perfect. The service was second to none and deserves praise. What a wonderful dining experience and under $200 for two with wines.
Food was ok but nothing special. It's the service, obviously the staff was having a rude night or she is normally like that all the time. Surprised how slow and unattentive the service was for those prices, wouldn't hurry back.
