The serving sizes are massive, literally expect mountains of pasta however, despite 'big' portions do not expect 'big' taste. The food was rather bland and boring. Which was quite disappointing considering a group of us waited 2.5 hours for our meals to arrive which in turn arrived in a half-hazard manner over the space of one hour. Unacceptable. With the waiters failing to acknowledge our existence, ordering a round of drinks was a painstaking affair. All in all the service was awful. Truly disappointing.

Just tried to make a booking for six people for Father's Day Lunch. I was curtly told we don't take booking for less than eight. Father's Day being a busy day what would the chances of getting a table without booking. If they book for eight why can't they book for six. We have never eaten at Sofia's before and now will never eat there at all, their attitude has lost us completely.

Cheap food, tastes great and huge plates full with food. Good family dinner place, very loud and venue is quite cramped.

I cannot recommend this place at all. The food was tasteless and lukewarm so bad, in fact that I couldn't eat it. The design of the restaurant is appalling. It is built so low that there are limited views of water but plenty of tea-tree. The interior is noisy, crowded and generally really unpleasant. Service was average at best. There is just nothing positive to sat at all! I would rather eat elsewhere for cheap pasta so that is really saying something about Sofia's poor quality!

Food portions are huge but pooly presented and plated. Taste wise, most of the pasta dishes are bland, with the taste of the pasta being reheated in the water it was cooked in. The tables are placed very close together and this combined with the furnishing creates a very loud and harsh environment to dine in which is a same given its location. The staff want to do well but are overwhelmed by the numbers and a lack of experince with the menu and wine list.

The location is one of the most stunning in Melbourne offering views over Port Phillip and across pristine coastline the Melbourne skyline. The meals are what one comes to expect of the Sofia's chain, big portions but not always well executed and the service is really haphazard. But this is a very cheap and very cheerful unpretentious venue for friends and families and such places nowadays are few and far between.

The food provided great value for money and food arrived promptly although meals were incomplete. Table service was quick but presentation was messy.
We were seated on the deck which was very crammed, absolutely no leg or arm room.
The main complaint of the night, as we were sitting about to delve into dessert we were bombarded with beetles (40+ in number). They were diving into the ice cream and chocolate mouse. We had not been able to even start eating them and they had been ruined! We soon had to depart as these bugs were relentlessly hitting into us and other patrons also. We departed as we could no longer stand the attacking bugs. Upon exiting I discussed this with the Cashier/Manager. Although we had not been able to eat our desserts, he didn't feel that this was a problem to him - he couldn't bear the cost of the ruined food ( retail $26). I suggest perhaps when we booked and requested deck dining, he could have warned us of the possibility of night bugs (please remember this was not merely a few bugs- we had one hitting us every 15 seconds!). I am sure this was not the first time as the staff had no reaction towards the bugs.
This man was quite obnoxious and said he could not be held accountable for eating conditions. He wasn't going to change his stance. I did leave with one last remark - the usual 'I won't be dining here again but I absolutely mean it, extremely poor customer relations are unforgivable. He tried to make me feel foolish for wanting to discuss bugs in our food, he offered no resolution and he was unhelpful. He couldn't quite see that the bugs cut our night short and our meals in half. No other table was offered replacement of desserts and no apologies for poor conditions. The food was great but add the bugs and who wants to eat that!
