I've been to small block and few times now and find it odd when you come in with the bench turned around and the staff often sitting on chairs or standing around the machine. Unsure whether to order or sit down. Staff not awesomely attentive but okay.

Coffee is good and quick but the two times I have been it has been mid week, late afternoon so not very busy. Had a gf cake once which was nice (can't remember what it was) and a steak sandwhich on gf bread which was also very nice. I'll go back, but only if Sugardough up the road is closed.

A nice cafe, overrated. Small Block is always busy and has been around a very long time now, I enjoy the ambience but I am yet to have a completely satisfying meal here unfortunately. I've heard grumblings of the quality of the service but I have never had any problems here myself, I don't mind speaking up for 2nd coffees etc.

Like it alot, been there many times and always come away satisfied and know that we will return again soon, service far better than others that's for sure, chatty and pleasant.

Ok, so we knew it was going to be busy on a Saturday at noon, but were prepared to wait, even with two kids. We were told that it wouldn't be long and it was our decision to hang in there for half an hour before a table became free. Having eaten at Small Block on previous occasions we thought we knew what to expect.

But what really let Small Block down in my opinion was that it then took over 60 minutes to get our meals (two serves of eggs and one french toast). I mean, come on, even I could whip up eggs at that time. By then the peak of the lunch rush had finished and the place was less than half full. So despite the tasty food I won't be going back. Life's too short for one hour eggs.

Good food, OK coffee. Sweet place! I also agree that the lack of service can be rather frustrating.

Pretty good breakfasts, hectic on the weekends which means it's popular. Great coffee.

I have had breakfast here a few times. The breakfast food is very nice - although I usually just order a standard bacon and eggs. The coffee was OK. The service is extremely slow, which can be a bit off putting if you are starving (usually the case if you are having brunch).

They also annoyingly bring out the breakfasts at different times if you have a few people at your table. It can be hard to get a table on the weekend, and unfortunately you cannot book.
