My husband had purchased a coupon that he brought from deal site which said its for 2 people. We were really excited to try this new place as its considered one of the top 10. When we entered the ambiance was really good however as soon as we showed the lady that we had coupon, the attitude was kind of different, she was curt and not really hospitable as one would except when we are dining without coupon. We had a kid and was disappointed to know they did not even have a high chair.
Food was good, however again we were disappointed by the quantity of the main course, though coupon was entitled for two people we got only 1 naan, now how are we suppose to share that? Also rice quantity was not sufficient for 2. We had to order extra naans and had to pay! Overall not great experience, we get better Indian food and service elsewhere. Would definitely not go next time.

I dined here with 3 others, using 2 coupons we had bought from a Deal Site. The coupons entitled us to entrees (2 'bits') and mains (3 curries, rice and naan).
On arrival, the restaurant is nice, warm and inviting. The entrees (chicken tikka and samosa were good). However the main course is where it fell down. We thought we would receive 6 curries (as 1 coupon = 3 dishes, so 2 coupons = 6), however we only got 5. When asked, the answer was that the chef had decided to put one curry in a bowl, even though the amount of this was no larger than the others! If we wanted another one we would have to pay. An extra curry (dahl) was not worth $20!
Disappointed by this, and the fact that the waitress said just let us know if you'd like more naan (finding out we were charged accordingly later). The butter chicken is like chicken thigh in creamy tomato soup (as described by somewhere else too).
All in all it was an ok experience, but there are better in the city for a better price. I will not be back any time soon.

I went with discounted coupons, I felt neglected as staff was more focus on customer without any deals. Serving was half and price was very high… not dat much impressed.

This place is ok compared to other cheap indian restaurants. However, what I dislike about this place and other similar restaurants is the 'one sauce fits all' approach to Indian food. There is so much more to offer. I am always suspicious when the food comes out 5 minutes after ordering (clearly pre-made). We discovered a new place on Rathdowne St which I think beats this place hands down. Shiraaz is not bad, but its being overtaken by places that are paying attention to quality.

I took my fiance here as we love Indian food. We are big fans of Shiraaz. We have dined at their Geelong and Ferntree Gully restaurants and were amazed of the authenticity of our meals. When we heard they opened a new restaurant in the CBD area we just had to go and I must say it was truly an excellent Indian cuisine experience. It was perfect in every way possible. Delicious food, friendly staff and great value for money, what else can you ask for? We will definitely come back for more! Thanks Shiraaz!

Completely agree, this place is a good find. We went there for a work lunch today (10 of us) and were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately. The cutlery is different to most restaurants. The knives sit upright on the table, not sideways, which is a subtle touch that gets the conversations started. Forks felt slightly unergonomic at first, but you get used to it.
Drinks were served prompty, as was the food. And both were of a high quality. Staff were attentive (possibly overly?) and responsive to our needs. Most of the group did the $20 lunch special (Choice of 1 x chicken/beef/lamb/vegetarian main, naan, rice and raiti), however, there was a good variety of a la carte options should you be inclined.
Only criticism was probably the heat of the meals. Normally I'd have Vindaloo at most places, but if I'm going somewhere new I take it down a notch just in case. I had Medium-Hot and it felt quite mild. Not a huge concern, so I'll be going a Vindaloo at least next time. And there will certainly be a next time.

Finally a great indian restaurant in the city! I took my clients for dinner there the other night and the food was amazing, not too heavy and greasy. The tandoori items are fantastic. Very pleasant ambience. The deco is relaxed yet classy. Definitely going to take more clients and friends back.
