Shinssi is a Korean Barbeque restaurant in Melbourne.

Korean barbecue, refers to the Korean method of grilling beef, pork, chicken, or other types of meat. Such dishes are often prepared at the diner's table on gas or charcoal grills that are built into the center of the table itself.

Shinssi have built-in charcoal grills for diners to use at their tables.

Shinssi offers Korean barbecue offers many kinds of marinated and non-marinated meat dishes.

For best taste Shinssi uses charcoal or soot (숯, burned wood chips) for table top cooking.

Shinssi offers also Joo mul luhk, which is short steak marinated with sesame oil, salt, soy sauce and pepper. It is almost similar to non-marinated Korean barbecue and one thing that distinguishes from other kinds is its steaklike juicy texture.

Spicy pork bulgogi is also a popular Korean barbecue dish and it is quite different from beef bulgogi because the marinade is not soy sauce-based, but instead consists of "gochujang" and/or "gochu garu" (Korean chili powder) based sauce

This place is a little hard to find - in a alley between King Street and William Street. When we went it was busy and full of koreans drinking this months event - SOJU@ $6.90. The seafood pancake is the best (Even better than the other hwaro). Love the service here.

Tried 2wice during the weekend kinda busy and crowd but had a fun. Weekday was a cheaper BBQ buffet so reasonable price. Especially the waiting staff performed so impressive job, with hot sweaty charcoal though. Was so sweet. It's a worth a shot to try. All side-dishes (Fish cake, Kimuchi, Seaweed etc.) are refilled automatically.

The food was ok, but service was slower then snail, have to ask 3 times b4 you get a small dish of meat. Not sure if the girl didn't understand or just slow in general. They run out of watermelon which replaced with rock melon, was so stingy with it, it was all you can eat but they only served 4 tiny plate. Place is a health harzard with no rangehood for the smoke and soot, walked out with a burning throat, never been in a building fire, but now I know how it feel. Would never go back there again. Was way expensive for I didn't get enough food cause they took hours to bring it out.

It's an all-you-can-eat Korean Barbecue. With $30 (weekdays only), you get to savor:

1 main dish (eg. Bibimbap, Fish Egg Soup w/ rice, etc), unlimited variety of beef (eg ox tongue, scotch fillet), unlimited pork, chicken, squid, unlimited side entree (kimchi, fishcake, etc). Ample space during weekdays.

And for uni students who only have dinner at 10 pm but wish to not have McD or HJ or Chinatown, there is still good food to be found at that hour. Hope my review helps. (P/S: Once you try this, forget about others)

This is the newest Korean Barbeque restaurant in Melbourne. It is where you find all Koreans eating Korean BBQ. Its table top cooking but without the hood system. It has charcoal located to the side which doesn't cause all the smoke or the smell! The food is tasty, the service is attentive and portions decent.
