Have been to this place at least 20 times over the years. Twice in the past month and on each occasion I've been up all night with headaches and feeling very dehydrated. I don't think they used to use much Msg, if any but now it appears to be overloaded.
Add this to the fact that when we went last week, every dish we ordered was on the table within 3 minutes of placing the order. Most of the dishes are obviously prepared earlier, and only one or two dishes actually tasted hotter than warm. Won't be going back!

Great food but otherwise no frills and not exactly cheap. Mongolian Lamb and Thousand Island Prawns were amazing!

The Cantonese food scene here in Melbourne needs a serious kick up the collective. Whilst other cuisines (Japanese, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Spanish etc etc) are reinventing themselves in exciting new ways, Cantonese restaurants in this town are rolling out the same dross they have been doing since 1975.
This restaurant is just another in a long line of average Chinese eateries that populate Melbourne's Chinatown. If you want a decent Chinese meal, go to Sydney. If you want to fill your stomach and don't care too much about what you are filling it with, come here.

I had Yum Cha here on a Sunday. I found the service very good and the dishes all very good and reasonably priced. It's not a trendy place but I kind of like that. There were a lot of Chinese people there, which to me is a good sign. Also I did see families with young children in high chairs. Would return again and from my recollection very similar to Shark Finn House, maybe not as many choices but reasonably priced. We had six dishes and soft drinks and the bill came to $33.

People complain too much here. The food was great service was great, people that state service was bad is probably because they were rude to the waiter and waitresses. Service was great they were extremely polite and attentive to our needs. Food was exactly what we wanted definitely will go back.

A group of us had yum cha. Food was fine, no problems with the service (perhaps, the fact that we had a couple of Cantonese speakers helped?). Ambience about standard for a Chinese restaurant!

I went there with my family of 13 today while on holidays. May I say it was feral. There was no serves. We would speak to the staff and they looked at us and walked away like they never heard us. We asked for the banquet on the phone when we booked. We told one of the staff members we were on the banquet and she then told us there is none and we said well thats what we booked she said she would ask her boys and she never came back.
Finally found the boss and he said we could do it but charged us a large sum of money not the one the person on the phone said and he would no believe us. The food then started coming and we of course got the last selections and hardly nothing to eat. My young cousins were grossed out by the food and omg was it a big fuss to ask for fried rice. I had to ask around for over half an hr for vegetarian food and what did they give me half cooked bokcho.
I returned it and ate nothing while watching my family beg for more plates of food that tasted the same. High light of the day was walking to somewhere else after so we could have a decent feed.

Bad bad bad, thought chinese food was a relatively safe bet anywhere until I dined here. Slow service and I mean slow, if I didn't have family in tow would have walked out. Food poor and expensive.

I have eaten at most of the Yum Cha restaurants in Melbourne and this is the best. The service is really good as they have plenty of staff. Have been going here for over 10 years with work colleagues, work guests and with family and friends.

Calling a restaurant "Shark Fin" is as outmoded as calling it "Whale Meat" or "Rhino Horn". Take Shark Fin off the menu. It's cruelly caught, loaded with mercury and has no "beneficial properties".
