Haven't been to Seagull for 12 months, it was looking a bit dated but I love the new paint job, still the best seafood I have tasted, love the busy ambience of this place. We normally have the banquet but you will need a big apetite to get through it all. We started coming here 15 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's the same owner.

Well, where do I start, I have been in the hospitality industry for around 20 years. I can say this with all honesty, Seagulls is probably the worst greek restaurant I have been to and I have been to alot. The service by 14-16 yo kids was pitiful. I don't want to look at some 16 year old girl in a skin tight black dress, I can go to bar 20 for that. We asked for a bottle opener and it was just placed on the table in front of my wife for her to open.
The menu is way over priced, the place was full of smoke from the char grill and the rear room was very hot and stuffy. Now the fun part the food. Not really sure what to say here other than the kitchen staff needs to go back to chef school, it was terrible. $28 for a plate of nonsense, the potatoes were dreadful, the rice was greasy, the vegetables were like a mixture of cork and rubber. The lamb was passable, just. Maybe the kitchen staff was having a bad night I am not sure, but you won't get me back again.
On the way out, no one asked if we enjoyed our meals or if everything was ok, this is what happens when you employ kids at $12 an hour to run your establish. D- for this place.

Amazing! As I had just returned from fabulous Greece this hidden gem took me straigh back. Traditional old school greek restaurant! Relaxed taverna, yummy food, restaurant is full of character, and you can see the chef cooking. The cheese saganaki was out of this world.

Restaurant was packed, yet service was great and the banquet came out without delay. The food was good and there was so much we couldn't even eat it all. Great value. Will be going back again.

Service was shocking, the table was so dirty my husband refused to be seated (he is a tradie that could eat off the floor). We tried several dishes as the menu and staff didn't or couldn't advise what was in the dishes. My over cooked rubber scallops were under a layer of 1 cm deep fat. Nothing was fresh and everything was over priced. Then we were charged $5.6 per 'can' of drink. Never again!

If you want the greek atmosphere, forget it. If you are looking for the authentic greek flavours, forget it. Over all don't like dining with 20 years of dust. Just like the prawns with the blackist heads viewable from the fridge very disappointing

I used to eat here alot but I'm afraid it's gone down hill. The lamb was dry and shrivelled up and the place needs updating as it's looking very tired. Service was abrupt and unfriendly. Not impressed.

I have worked at many restaurants all over the mornington peninsula and I can honestly say that The Seagull is still my favourite. The food is prepared fresh everyday (unlike most upmarket restaurants which prepare it weekly then re-heat it), they don't even own a microwave! If you go to the counter you can actually see your meal being cooked.
The food is just delicious, I would recommend any of the saganaki's, lamb spit (the first cuts are always the best), calamari, fish alla greca, steak and the santorini's. The special's are also worth a try. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is fast and friendly.
However, the wine list is not extensive, but corkage is only $2, I would recommend bringing your own wine.

This very relaxed restaurant needs a good clean. It is filthy. Thick layers of heavy dust on every surface. Service was lacking. We ordered a banquet. Our waitress just plonked meals on the table with no explanation of what they were and then disappeared. The main meal of lamb was very dry. I was very disappointed and probably won't give it another try.
