A reasonably nice setting which is terribly let down by the food. It isn't a case that the food is awful, it's the fact that it has very little resemblance to authentic Thai food. It would be better described as a restaurant that has a few Thai influences mixed with Chinese rather than proclaiming to serve Thai food. I went with Thai friends who were rather bemused by the whole thing.
The staff were functional, not good or bad just did what they needed to do. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. There are cheaper places with much better food and atmospheres in the area. A disappointment.
You can say this is a upper class restaurant. Kind of a restaurant that you can only effort on a special occasion. Most of the popular dishes are well prepared by the experience chef, my most favourite dish would be the ghoon sawadee (king prawns lightly butterd and fried with chilli sauce). mmm yam..
Sawasdee is a quaint looking Thai Restauarant, with lovely ambience and some very polite staff. Unfortunately it was not enough to save it from being very disappointing & extremely overpriced.
The entrées were okay, but disaster struck when the mains came out. At around $20 a dish for a main (beef), 2 of our dishes resembled ground beef & both were far too salty. (It turns out sliced beef can be ordered at extra cost, however it is not stated in the menu.) Presentation was completely ordinary, oil stained placemats, plain cutlery, even more cheap plain white serving & dining plates, and napkins weren't even folded.
Absolutely not recommended - there are many places in China Town to choose from of much better quality and value.
