My equal 1st favourite Thai restaurant in melbourne, simply ambrosial. Everytime I eat there, I am never disappointed, they sure know how to please an appetite. My other favourite and most recommend thai place is Thai Langhor55 in maribyrnong - words can't even describe how good the food is there.

Was after some authenthic thai and drawn to the menu which outlines the different regions of each dish. We arrived and immediatedly noticed that the decor was very dated, there were no windows, and it felt like we had stepped back in time (and later, the addition of a live contemporary music piano soloist didnt help the situation). Food was ordered and came out suspiciously quick. The entree of prawn salad had prawns that looked and tasted like they were pre-frozen from a packet. The pad thai and red curry were overly sweet and the old zuchinni in the curry gave for a bitter taste. the food was priced in a category that could have been justified if the food was quality and authentic - this was definitely not the case.

First time and highly recommend. Very quiet, few people in and apparently the piano player was not on for the night. There were four of us and we were attended to quickly. One of us asked for a special drink with mint and as it wasn't on the menu the drinks waiter went out of his way to make it. The chips brought to the table are vegetarian but you need to ask to find this out as it just assumed you'll know.

I ordered suitable vegetarian options, a salad, a vermicelli dish and vegetables and it was so refreshing and delicious. It was just as easy to mix the salad with the main as it just added extra texture and flavour, it was all so nice. There was nothing disappointing. It seemed that all of us were satisfied but my dining companions typically ordered too much and struggled to eat it all.

I would recommend it all just for the quality of the food, and the delicious freshness of it. I was impressed and would go back, the meal was fairly priced and the service was very good.

We had an NAB staff dinner there on Friday 7:30pm. Fantastic service, relaxing ambience and absolutely amazing authentic thai food. After struggling to find a restaurant that had a diverse but quality menu, I was recommended Sawasadee by an NAB staff who said all the dishes she order the last time was great. We also shared our mains and ever single dish was amazing!

    Service:
-Waiters were very friendly and polite. With such a big group we took a while to order. Also some guests were not familiar with Thai food but the waiter was professional and patient. He had also confirmed the orders prior to leaving and ensured the order was accurate.
-Water jugs were refilled and service during meal was great.

    Food:
-The best Thai restaurant and most authentic I have had in Melbourne. It has even beats a lot of eateries in Thailand! Compliments to the chef/s as ALL of the dishes were high quality, fresh and sensational!

-As mentioned previously some of the guests were not familiar with Thai food but they were so happy with the food that they tasted!

    - For the great service and amazing food, all the guests said they would recommend this place and we will be returning. I will recommend this place to others, especially NAB staff.

I am shocked at the service of this restaurant. The senior staff is so unprofessional its not funny. Would always go for the food, as service is pathetic, now the food is shocking to. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Very nicely Thai themed decor (including cutlery and utensils), music and dimmed lights created the perfect setting for a peaceful dining away from the hustle and bustle of the street outside. The serving portions were small, but enough to share amongst three of us.

I've had to wait 4 days to calm down before writing this review and the 6 other diners who joined me last saturday night are still scratching their head over what we experienced. Absolute poor service. After being seated and given a menu we looked forward to an interesting evening in one of the alcove tables (7 of us). Well after 45 minutes one of us left the table to go up to a waiter and ask for our orders to be taken.

From this point on it was the theme of the night, stand up go and get someone. Never once in the 4 hours at the restaurant where we asked if we wanted anything, drinks, sweets, the bill? Could we have over looked the abysmal service because of the food? No. The almost deep fried everything entree's were only surpassed by curries that would battle to measure up in a descent food mall, but at $24-28 for a main no less.

I mean a prawn curry with the shell tips attached? Maybe in your country pub fisherman's platter but surely not in China town on a Saturday night. And yes, there is a piano player.

On this evening with friends we ordered a middle of the price range banquet which gave us an excellent variety. Some of the items were excellent and would return just to order those select items while some of the items were a non-event. The crispy prawns were excellent while the slow cooked beef was a little tough.

The food seemed reasonably priced and the banquet provided us with an excess of food. The service was unobtrusive and stayed in the background but was on-hand to help if needed. The piano player added a nice touch to the atmosphere on the Saturday night creating overall a good evening.

To comment on some of the other reviews, it is indeed on the first floor up a flight of stairs which it states so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams, it is more suitable for a group of adults having a night out than a family occasion with children. Having visited Thailand I can agree with another reviewer that the food isn’t quiet authentic Thai but more of a Thai Chinese blend but was still a good meal nonetheless.

I liked the look, like tiki gone wild and the staff are very attentive, at first. It tended to wane as the night wore on. The food was marginal and overpriced for what you receive. The entrees, salad and mains we had were enough of a meal and were flavorsome (when it says three chili hot, it's three chili hot) but I can't see a return trip in the future. We could have had such a meal at half the price elsewhere.
