The Age Good Food Guide 2010 - One Chef's Hat
Sapore is Italian for taste or flavour. Exceptional flavours reside in Sapore Ristorante. The Chef creatively plays with traditional Italian cuisine and infuses a hint of French. This got them One Chef’s Hat accolade from The Age Good Food Guide for three years running. The menu is basic and approachable, allowing seasonal ingredients to shine. The wine list is eclectic with Italian influences. Two private dining rooms at Sapore are perfect for meetings, functions and parties.

Dined at Sapore twice, both times had lovely experiences. Waiting staff attentive, but, perhaps, could have been a little less suffocating.
Meals were impeccably presented and flavours of each dish worked brilliantly together. Recommend the Duck and Barramundi. The chocolate desserts are slightly sparse but to die for, bring back the marquise!

I went to Sapore on Sunday night with a friend. All was good until we went to order. After giving the waiter my order my friend then ordered the Set Menu. That is when the problems started. We were informed that both people had to have the set menu.
For what reason that was I didn't even ask. Then after five minutes I decided I would have the Set Menu as well even though it wasn't to my liking. Then I asked if I was able to substitute a glass of Wine for a Beer. I was then told I could substitute a Soft Drink or Orange Juice instead.
After much consideration we decided to walk out. Can someone please explain to me how a Restaurant can dictate what you can and can't order on a Sunday night when there was ten people in the Restaurant. While the food might be good at Sapore, unfortunately, the attitude of Management and Staff leaves quite abit to be desired.

We arrived on a Friday night with no booking and not much time as we had to catch a show and the staff were very accommodating, friendly and efficient. I had the crab spaghetti and my husband the chicken breast with a shared side of brussel sprouts. All the portions were generous and really tasty. A great dining experience.

Visited this restaurant with the entertainment card and we were quite impressed. Oysters kilpatrick and prawn spaghettini were both delicious as entrees. I had the baby chicken for main which was cooked to perfection and so flavorsome, partner had the pork belly which was beautiful except the crackling wasn't crackled enough. However it's a small fault in what was a great meal. Service fantastic, highly recommended!

I never tire of going back to Sapore. The menu constantly changes to reflect the seasons and there are always new and inventive dishes to try. It's a fantastic location for those balmy summer evenings and the choc cannoli special last night was just divine. The staff are friendly and attentive and, what's more, really know what they are talking about. It's hard to find better in Melbourne.

Went to this restaurant last Sat night, which I had chosen as it had some good reviews. Started ok with friendly attendance by staff but my opinion is this restaurant had a few faults which need to be addressed.
Firstly we booked a table for 4 people which was ok but the table next to us we almost touching our table and it make our space not very private. We had no entrees and ordered the mains which were very nice but not enough, seemed like entree size meals. Dessert menu was very tempting and we ordered the Rhubarb tart which was tasteless. We also had a bottle of wine which was taken away from the table which the waiter forgot about.
Waiter also refilled my wine glass with the red wine (I had this for my previous Sav Blanc). When we were leaving waiter forgot which coats we had, surely they can have a better system in place. These few points, unfortunately, have put me off going there again, especially as the final bill was over $300 for 4 people.

A group of us enjoyed the fixed price “Signature” menu, and we were all very impressed with the food, including the calamari entrée and the duck and gnocchi main course dishes. This menu was good value, but it would be easy to spend the savings on the rather expensive wine list! Service was attentive and atmosphere was OK.

Taking a different angle from traditional osso buco, the meat and bone of the veal were separated, the bone with its lush marrow placed to one side whilst the veal, wrapped in sausage style casing, took on the appearance of a potato sitting atop a gorgeous green mound of parsley and lemon risotto and surrounded by the vibrant shimmering saffron broth.

This is great restaurant. Fabulous wine list and attentive service. I've been here a number of times and never been let down. Menu could do with more frequent revision as it is quite small. The blood orange cheesecake is one of the best desserts I've had anywhere.

This is just about Melbourne's best restaurant. The dishes are modern Australian/Italian, using incredible ingredients and a simplicity and balance. There is enough wow, without being over the top or spoiling the underlying centerpiece of the dish. It's rich, well cooked, good sized servings and priced accurately and fairly. It's kinda expensive, but value for money.
Service was great, interior was modern and a good mix of intimacy and formality. A restaurant that does not take any false steps and will see me again and again. Do not miss it.
