We had no reservation but the place turned out to be very quiet on Friday lunchtime on a very dreary day. I loved the layout of the menu, allowing people to graze as they pleased. We had dolmathes (delicious), marinated mushrooms (even better) and toasted pita bread from the "bites" section. Then the Meat Man had the lamb gyros and cleaned the plate. I had the mussels with lemon and ouzo, I have bought a bottle of ouzo in order to try to emulate this beautiful dish. We had a bottle of wine with our meal and ended with excellent coffees.

We had a booking at 6.30, we walked straight in to our seats, the waitress explained perfectly how the menu works. Good food, good service, we will be back. And the Saganaki is brilliant.

After reading some average reviews we were a bit nervous but need not have been. Great value, great food, great service. We loved it.

A group of us girls recently dined at Saganaki, I had previously eaten there about a year ago and was disappointed. But this experience was sensational.
The food was extremely tasty and we thouroughly enjoyed the Banquet, We all had to go to the gym a couple of times more that week as the food was so plentiful. I would highly recommend anyone wanting excellent value for money to dine there.

My friends and I had been to Saganaki a year ago and were bitterly disappointed. We recently decided to go again under a New Chef and I can't praise the food enough, we had the banquet, simple and more flavor than anything we had experienced in a long time in Melbourne. We dine out often and have adopted Saganaki as our place to go. Book on Saturday night as it will be impossible to get in once word gets out.

A bit skeptical to go to this venue after reading the reviews, however, we had a great night, we all enjoyed ourselves. The food was fabulous, the staff friendly and very helpful. We ordered the banquet, there was so much food, we could barely roll out of the restaurant. We will definitely be back and recommend this place to every one!

Went here for New Years Eve and it was such a disaster! Firstly we arrived there and was greeted by a very sweaty man, yes it was hot but gee wipe you forehead before greeting customers!
Then I looked at the menu and it had completely changed from what was advertised on their website! After recently been ill there are many foods I'm unable to eat, which is why we went there because on the new years eve menu on the website I could eat some of the foods!
The food took forever to come out! Considering it was a set menu one would believe it would come out a tad faster than 2.5 hours before mains arrive! The table next to us had starters, mains, then entree! Was an absolutely nightmare night! Especially the fact that it was $100 per person and all I could eat was a piece of bread (that was dry and stale) and 3 tiny potatoes!
As for customer service, there was not much service. As the weather started to turn a bit nasty and the outside area started to leak, it took them over half an hour to find an extra seat to sit on so you weren't sitting in the rain, by then you're soaked through. As we were leaving I did mention these issues with the staff member who couldn't have cared less! She basically said "oh well". In summary, never would I go there again! They make McDonalds seem like a fine dining experience.

Went there for XMAS lunch yesterday and what a disaster, despite the rather snazzy senior staff type rushing around schmoosing everyone as if the place had a star to its name. $85 a head, no drinks and the most edible thing was the wine. To start, shop bought dips and dry bread, a few sour olives. Next up a delightful plate of "chefs choice" antipasto style fare, with whitebait that had been fried at about 9 am, some very cheap sausage and some sort of calamari that I think they got from KFC up the road.
I looked around and there was universal confusion over the ordinary main course (menu sounded so good!) mine was ancient turkey and twice cooked potatoes (you know when they boil the night before and recook the next day, not even your grandma would do it) and dessert was actually so bad it was funny. How insulting. Never again. Obviously. Staff were ok, but a full host of backpackers who don't really care don't inspire confidence and what was with the angry overbearing maitre de? BLERG, Merry Xmas indeed.

The food was awful, service poor and way overpriced for the bland and tiny serves they give you. This restaurant gives Greek dining a bad name. It deserves to close down. In fact, I'm sure it will close down soon as we went at peak time there was hardly anyone else eating there. Looks like word has got around. We sat near the cashier and heard so many customers on their way out complaining about the food. Forget this place and head straight to East Brunswick (Hellenic Republic) or Moonee Ponds (Philhellenes).

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Awful food, overpricing, rude waitress and waited 2 hours for our food to arrive. Got there at 1 pm and food arrived at 3 pm. Main meal arrived @ 1 hour later its ridiculous!
