From the elegant decor to the traditionally attired staff, our group of eight really enjoyed the main speciality of this restaurant which is its expertise in Peking Duck. Our chef expertly sliced the crispy skin of our two perfectly cooked ducks for us to savour before presenting the main portions for us to wrap in pancakes served with an accompaniment of scallions, cucumbers and a splendid hoisin sauce.
Our mains were equally as well prepared and presented, they were followed by some excellent duck soup and delectable desserts such as Red Bean pancake and Mango Ice Cream Delight. The service was superb and added to a great evening for all of us.

Return to this restaurant after last dining there a year ago, which was really enjoyable. Last night we decided to return to this restaurant to entertain some business associate. I was really disappointed, the quality of the duck and the service had gone so far backwards that I might as well be dining at any Chinese restaurants around Chna Town. Sad to see management decided to down grade this used to be exclusive restaurant to a very average Chinese restaurant.

Duck was ok good. Service slow and terrible. Waiter very rude and only recommends expensive items and didn't get any food for over 1 hr. Found hair in the veggie dish. Deep fried Prawns tasted like they were re-microwaved. Dishes way overpriced and not memorable at all.

We have our company's Christmas dinner of 46 people at this well-known Chinese restaurant chain. Everyone is very happy about the foods and interior decoration. A liitle bit pricey. But it worths. Many people said they would come back again themselves.

By far the worst dining experience I have experienced in my entire life. From the start, being only a small group of 3 people, we were seated immediately but not offered even a drinks menu for a good 10 minutes.
A further 10 minutes later our drink orders were taken but again no food menu was provided. It was another 5 minutes before a waiter asked if we had ordered our food. Annoyance was beginning to creep in.
Ready to order, four waiters kept passing us by but ignoring our table completely. Managing to grab a waiter's attention we were rudely told she didn't do the food orders before attending to another table to remove their empty dishes. She couldn't even inform someone else that we were ready to order.
By now it's 8.20 pm and we were seated at 7.35 pm. We were not informed that it would take 45 minutes for our duck to cook, something we would have appreciated.
By now our frustration had reached the limit. Our food didn't arrive til 9.10 pm. What was really irksome was watching large group tables being attended to so well. It was obvious that they could provide good service but since we were a small table of 3, we were being blatantly ignored.
The food was decent but for was extremely pricey ($88/duck) and seriously the worst service imaginable. I would rate this dining experience a 1/10. I will never return and make sure that everyone I know how terrible this place truly is.

What a great find! Superb Chinese restaurant in the heart of Melbourne which is certainly different to the rest. High quality furnishings and interior decoration matched by superb food and service. The salt and pepper whiting was to die for (so much so we ordered a second serving!). All food was beautifully prepared and presented. Probably a little on the high priced side for Chinese cuisine but worth it for a special night or a business lunch/dinner.

QuanJuDe is elaborately decorated, and can feel almost uncomfortable with the high level of service. Peking duck ($65-ish) was amazing and not oily like others that I have tried. It comes in two courses and you will probably need a top up of pancake, scallions and cucumbers (we were in a group of four people sharing). We also got a certificate with our duck number on it!
Crab Xiao Long Bao was also very good. Only down side is the bill can be quite high after all the extras, entree, dessert and wine ($250+ for four people). We were stuffed though!

Having written the overview, it is well advised to book in advance and check out the website menu beforehand. Quanjude is part of a restaurant chain which originated in Beijing in 1864 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quanjude. We certainly look forward to visiting again soon.
