Very good value, we fed three people dinner for $37, including three mains, two rice dishes, three servings of garlic naan and dessert! Only slightly disappointing thing was that there were no beef dishes on the menu, I suppose the owners may be Hindu. Lots of desserts on display and we intend to return to try some more.

Warning, this is not a restaurant in a traditional sense, but more a take away shop that has tables and chairs for those who wish to dine in. So if you're wanting to impress your girlfriend's parents then please avoid this. However, if you're coming home from the footy or you just can't be bothered cooking dinner tonight and want to be feed your family well and cheap then look no further.

Inside it's like a fish and chip shop, with a room to the left for eating in. You order your meal at the counter and then wait at your table to be served. Once at the table you need to get your plates, cutlery, etc, which are clean and accessible. The floors were a little grotty (sorry) and there were a few flies hanging around finishing off the ambience and making it authentic lol.

The food delivered, however, was as good as one would expect from a top Indian restaurant, with the presentation being a very pleasant surprise. The garlic naan bread was the best I've ever had, fresh, tender and nicely grilled with an appealing tan colour. The lamb Vindaloo was quite good, very tasty and very satisfying. The saffron rice was cheap and plentiful.

So even though I made comments about the cleanliness and the 'self serve' service, one must remember that you 'get what you pay for'. Your money doesn't pay for pampered service and hospital like cleanliness. However, in this instance you're more than compensated by the cheap main meal dishes, as they are half price, get it, half! I asked a young Indian man eating next to us what he thought of the venue, and he said "the food here is what I expect from home, and don't worry about the look of the place, the food is good and fresh". Happy eating!

Friendly service and great food. Good value. It would be nice if they added a 'Thali' to their menu. This would be useful to the single customer.

From an indian perspective the food was good enough for us to want to order take away again which is a compliment to the chef as its now amongst very few take aways we will go to. I would recommend chicken masala and tandoori chicken for now! Naan was tough though!

PS: waiting to try other dishes, will review again.

We were very grateful to have been put on to this place by a friend. The decor and prices are quite understated for the high quality food you are getting. This is honestly some of the best indian I have had in Melbourne, which is very odd seeing as though the restaurant itself is supposed to be a cheap indian takeaway store.

It's also strange that the store is named after the sweets, which are also very nice, but I have to say the real showstoppers are the take away meals. This is a real hidden gem where you'll find some of the best indian food around.

Punjab Sweets is a great little restaurant. The food and service are both great! I order takeaway at least once a week and eat in once a month. Highly recommend this place!

This is a fantastic little restaurant, incredibly cheap, authentic Indian cuisine cooked fresh with wonderful spice mixes. It's a cheap and cheerful sort of place so don't go expecting flash setting and service. For what it is, it does it's job perfectly, delicious, good value Indian food cooked fresh to order with quality ingredients and wonderfully aromatic spice blends. Highly recommended.

This is a really nice laid back place in Dandenong's own 'little India'. The dish 'Chana' (chickpea curry) & 'bhatura' (yummy fried bread)' is a must try - it is the yummiest I've ever had in Melbourne because they make it fresh and it is served hot!. These people also makes heaps of Indian sweets, their jalebi is the best I've had in Melbourne.
