Great food, can be a very noisy venue when full. Had an amazing and very generous serve of scrambled eggs this morning topped with Dukkah. Amazing. Reasonable coffee too.

Pioneers is set in a beautiful old building directly next to a park ideal for the kids. The quality of the food is good, but overpriced, and very slow to arrive.

Whilst the quality of the food, wait staff and location can't be faulted, the attitude of management towards people with kids is nothing short of downright rude.

You would think that being opposite a childs park, that it would be child friendly? Unfortunately, this is not the case. Do not expect to be welcomed with open arms if you bring your kids. They clearly do not want kids in the restaurant (for goodness sake, you're a little cafe near a park in Berwick, you're not in Toorak). In fact, be prepared to be told to leave your pram outside (they're banned, according to management).

We will not be returning to Pioneers. Why would you set up your business there if you don't want to cater for kids?

Although a little pricey I was very pleasantly surprised with my breakfast at Primary last weekend. Having experienced a lot of average to terrible breakies around town in the last couple of months I was really pleased to find my local cafe topped them all. Their corn fritters are delicious. I could have eaten ten of them. My husband's bacon and eggs were apparently perfect (something that seems to be surprisingly difficult for other breakfast cafes to achieve). The coffee was really lovely, too. Inside was a bit loud and outside there was the noise of cars chugging passed, but the beautiful setting in Pioneers park made up for it. It's a great old building and I really enjoyed seeing how they managed to maintain the charm of the school building with the modern, bright cafe. I'll be back.

I thought this place was gorgeous. The cafe is very open and very well lit. It has bench couches as well as standard table and chairs. The fire place is fantastic. Our food was delicious and the serving was very generous. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. I will definitely visit again and bring friends. There is a playground near the outside seating area, so it is children friendly as well.
