Overview

Friends told us about this little cafe, so we popped in last weekend.. it's a paired back old shopfront that has a sort of industrial / bohemian feel to it, not very hawthorn, and thats what we LOVED about it - full of very cool people - the food was amazing - their avocado and mushrooms with house marinated fetta was one of the best breakfast dishes i have had. They use a sydney based coffee which was beautiful, Allpress i think - well made, first had a espresso followed by a latte and both were near perfect. They plan to expand into another couple of rooms out the back and I think a courtyard too with a liquor licence - this will be a place to watch i think..

This is a cute little place in an area that really needs a cafe to lounge about on the weekend. The food was full of flavour and nice and healthy. Our drinks never arrived so we asked the waiter after we had finished our lunch to which he honestly replied that he was sorry but he had simply forgotten to put the order in for them. They were then brought to our table in a flash and we were not charged for them, which was a nice gesture.

A minor blip on what was a relaxing lunch with great food. We took a couple of muffins takeaway which were delicious (chocolate and coconut). Looking forward to going back again.

This place is an absolute gem - attracting all types of folk in an area which is sadly lacking a truly great cafe - now there is one! There's always a friendly smile, delicious coffee and tasty food waiting for you (piadinis, poached eggs with dukkah, smashed avocado and delicious sweet stuff) in an atmosphere that is cool but not pretentious, relaxed and friendly.

The staff get to know all the regulars by name and are lovely people who know their stuff - am so pleased it's becoming successful but hope I'll still be able to get a table in six months. Enjoy.

I love Porgie and Mr Jones. I've been reluctant to review it because I want to keep it as my special secret but it's so good I have to share it. I love the great food, funky decor and friendly service, what more could one ask for really. I've just returned from New York, Washington and Barcelona and still love this local gem, the cupcakes are a special delight with the thickest icing in town.

Fab place, it has a feel I've just woken up and someone is making me the most delicious brekky in my kitchen. The aromas in the air are not from a commercial kitchen cafe but friendly staff, funky decor, the mr jones scramble with goats cheese is too much to bare. What a taste sensation, pretty busy place, will definitely be going back.

Awesome place! Had the smashed avocado dish and wanted to order a second serve but had to leave... will be back there soon! Couldn't fault the coffee. It's all love.

We went here last week, a great find, its what all cafes should strive to be, service can be a little slow, but that far from detracts how cool this little place is, I even love the name, apparently its the owners who are friends? Amazing barista, very passionate about the coffee. Groovy tunes, industrial feel but still warm and it is hard to get a seat, we had to wait for 15 minutes!
