Wow! Friends have been telling me about this place for ages. I live half way across town, managed to get over there over the weekend and let me tell you, I have been missing out! Starting backwards, Loukoumathes for dessert are made to order and are the best I have had. The well done bits on the gyro were spot on (sticky not too salty but full of flavour).

The waiter recommended the baked fish and it was so good! I ordered a ouzo with my octopus and saganaki entree and it made my day. Going back with mates next week!

Disgraceful. We attended on 24/01/2012 for a birthday dinner and could not believe the sub-standard food. If you enjoy salt, fat and charcoal, dry food, frozen seafood and limpy salad, please go ahead. Worst Greek food on this side of town.

Tucked away in East Ivanhoe Village, this restaurant has attentive service and quality Greek food at reasonable prices. Great platters here, the seafood platter keeps me coming back. Decor is pleasant if unremarkable but spacious with big tables for groups.

Updating my original review - they've got a new menu. Not the food, which is still good, but a fancy new printed menu, with fancy new prices to match. Alas, it's no longer great value, but it is more popular. Go figure. Charge more and the punters think they get more!

This place has improved since the last time I was there a few years ago. The servings have increased in size and the quality has remained the same which is great. The service is nice and friendly and are spot on with their recommendations in regards to serving sizes etc. Would not hesitate to go back.

This is one of our regular weeknight favorites. Terry is a great host and the food his father prepares is consistently tasty. Main courses are best value, forget the entrees and share several mains. We love the Yemista, Giros, and Moussaka and often share one of the rice accompaniments. It is licensed or BYO, and although corkage is only a few $, I recommend the house red.

Quite simply some of the best food I've had at a greek restaurant in Melbourne. The homemade dips and bread along with the saganaki are a great starter. The meat and seafood platters are of a fantastic quality. My personal favourite are the lamb cutlets, very tender!

Service was very friendly, Terry at the front of the house was a delight to deal with. Had to wait a bit longer than ideal for food but was worth the wait. Well priced, highly recommend, won't disappoint.

Couldn't fault it for the price. Fantastic friendly staff. The quail and the charcoal octopus were excellent. Definitely be going back.

Can't realise this was authentic Greek food. Taste was simple as supermarket BBQ.

An ok Greek restaurant, but there's better out there. The best thing was the char grilled quail, which was perfect. All the other dishes which our party of 4 ordered were quite bland. The char grilled calamari/squid was cooked well, but just didn't have the succulent flavour one expects from this dish. The service was very efficient and friendly. The restaurant and the kitchen are very clean.

Tucked away in suburban East Ivanhoe, Plaka restuarant is a wonderful find! Although the outside decor is deceptively ordinary, it belies what is inside, a warm welcome, friendly atmosphere, plenty of space and plenty of space between tables.

The food is very good value and the menu sports a range of a la carte dishes (I can recommend the Yemista, stuffed peppers highly), as well as a banquet selection which is most suitable for larger groups. A range of specials changes weekly and gives one the chance to sample some of the lesser known Greek cuisine.

Everything is cooked on location, including the delicious bread and the dips and there is no dried old gyros here! Based on authentic Greek recipes the flavours are marvellous! We have in vain tried to find out the secret of the lemon potatoes!
Terry at the front of house and Paul, his father in the kitchen, are most attentive, quick and willing to help. They are specially good with families.

Parking is easy and although I am not a big wine drinker the selection looked reasonable.
