Bonus point for being open on Good Friday for lunch. Was really starting to struggle to find a place to have a nice meal. Obviously my plan of a food and wine weekend away in Melbourne lacked some logical thinking by way of doing it on the Easter Weekend.

Nice setting across from Port Phillip Bay. My char grilled kangaroo with potato and fennel was nice, my partners stir fried vegies dish resembled something closer to a soup and wasn't great.

Rest of the pub looked quite cool. Footpath seating, outdoor section offering tapas and a dimmed section to chill out with cocktail or wine.

We have had several meals here. Last night we popped in for dinner. MM chose the sirloin steak. It was a generous serve, beautifully cooked. I had an excellent Thai beef salad, plenty of finely sliced beef atop a well dressed plate of leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber batons, etc. We had a bottle of red with our meal.

We booked a table for 11 people for lunch on Mothers Day (9/5) at 12 pm, they had loads of availability. Two days before Mothers Day I received a phone call from The Pier confirming my booking, and they also told me that as they were now heavily booked, we had to be out by 2 pm! I explained that we booked well in advance and we were not told this and we expected to spend a few hours at lunch together, so they extended it to 2.30 pm.

We still went and were hurried from the moment we sat down. We were placed in the bistro (no tablecloths section) underneath the boom boom speaker (not good for 70+ Mothers) and not in the dining area with the white tablecloths etc. The food was rushed, average and not at all how it use to be. Will never go back there as there are far too many other good restaurants to go to.‎

I hadn't eaten at The Pier for a couple of years ago, it used to be a favourite of mine for a good meal, but things have really changed, bland food and horrible coffee. Service was the only good thing about our meal.

Been here several times and have found the food to be hit and miss (all miss of late). Found the food bland and didn't appear to taste with fresh ingredients.

Have had some pretty good meals here but the last visit has really left a bad impression. The food was cold and not surprisingly as it was served on a cold plate. The service was fantastic as our waiter had no hesitation in sending the food back to the kitchen and were quite apologetic however, even on the second time round the food (lamb cutlets) was still at best luke warm and this time over-cooked.
