While its true that the room is relatively bland this restaurant offers some fantastic options. While not particularly inventive the solid menu is great value and the service is attentive though not intrusive. Recommended.

Hampton St is full of small, noisy, casual restaurants, and sometimes you feel like softer floor coverings and more space. I didn't find it bland at all. Our food was fine - I recommend the fish, and the staff try hard. Plus it's BYO. Still waiting for the really fresh and imaginative local dining spot, but this is a worthy addition to the scene.

Unfortunately, this place was a real disappointment. The room is bland, bland, bland. Reminds you of a 3 star hotel foyer, you could not create a room with less character if you tried.

The food is hit and miss. The Beef with Blackbean was great, really tender meat and a piquant sauce that still had some whole balck beans in it. Very moorish. Good dumplings, yum cha here might be the go.

But that is where the good news ends. The Salt and Pepper Calamari was not much more than globs of batter, the spring rolls were an inch of pastry and millimetre of filling, the lemon chicken just a chicken schnitzel with a gluey lemon sauce.

Service is that Chinese style of "hovering", it is like eating in front of an audience. Sure they are quick to respond but you feel rushed, like "I better finish my plate cos this guy is waiting to take it away". Prices are about average I suppose, wine list is small but pretty well thought out. The Patrick's Pinot Noir we had on the night was the highlight of the meal and it was superb, I must try and track some down.

I have to admit this is one of my favorite restaurant (Peninsula Hampton). It's located on the busiest street of Hampton. The waiter and waitress are really friendly and they do have a great service. The food was delicious, they sometimes have new and surprising dishes that is different to other Asian Cuisine. The price are affordable, but with the great quality of service and food it is worth it. I really do recommend people to try out their delicious food.
