Paladarr Thai Issan serves Thai cuisine utilising the freshest ingredients. The restaurant doesn’t fall into the trap other Asian restaurants did: No unnecessary gimmicks. The food is solid and authentic Thai, featuring stir-fries, soups, curries, salads and soups. The décor is contemporary—the dark furnishings and warm fireplace lending a relaxed ambience to Paladarr.

A very authentic and delicious eating spot. I urge thai lovers to try it.

Alphington?
Definitely not your average local Thai with dishes like kangaroo and moreton bay bugs. Exceptionally beautiful flavours and smart friendly service to match. Will not hesitate to come back again, especially for a fabulous night out with the girls!

The wine list was disgustingly pretentious... just imagine not being able to purchase a pinot gris/pinot grigio for less than $100! Well, they must be wanking! Not like they are in the heart of Melbourne and feeding the elite. No, this is just a very disappointing little suburban Thai, and about all that it should boast about is the nasty red-coated waiter who deemed himself to be way above all of the diners whilst we were there. He also treated the female wine waiter like dirt... and we saw it! What a nasty little piece of work - and when you ask for help with the menu he grins away with his giant false grin and dares to challenge you to eat the "best Jasmine rice you'll ever eat". Excuse me, I was asking about the Black Sticky Rice which appears on the menu together with a warning that it is only cooked once a night! Crap night!

Lovely establishment! I have always known about this restaurant from friends who have dined in before but the recent mentions in quite a few major publications pushed me into finally trying them out.
The flavours in the food we had were amazing. My husband and I frequently dine out (as we are blessed with awesome parents who loves looking after the kids on weekends, ha ha!) at CBD restaurants, and we have concluded that this place can't even be compared to other Thai restaurants. For the quality of the dishes as well as the smart service, it stands up among Melbourne's best.
The service is top notch - as first time diners there, we were overwhelmed by the menu and its floral descriptions, only to be greeted by a reassuring friendly maitre'd suggesting the "sharing nature" of the food and recommending the most popular dishes to us. Oh, their "Balancing Act" dessert is still in my mind, 3 days later!

Poor tasting food. Just overpowered by spices and I could not taste the food. Servings tiny. Cocktails are especially poor value, about a tbl spoon of drink for $16. Will not go back.

Heard great reports and friends dine there on a regular basis but I was very disappointed. The waiter didn't seem to understand what we were ordering and the service was slow. We ordered enough dishes to cover 4 people and the plates arrived with enough for one person let alone 4!.
One bottle of wine and 4 beers and food that would have fed 1 person came to $300 plus dollars! Never again and it took us some time to even attract the waiter so we could settle the account. Not normally given to being giving an establishment a really bad review but this is not a good Thai eatery. Who gave them a hat?

Agree with calendula. Had been there in 2009 and was very impressed, but went earlier this year and was non-plussed. Small portions, no razzle. Service good, but they've lost this customer.

Very small portion for the price you pay. Not at all authentic Thai and certainly not the best Thai restaurant in Melbourne! Service was attentive and polite. Would I go again - hmmmmm, sorry but no.

Best Thai in Melbourne hands down, whilst a bit pricey, their service is exceptional and I am more then happy to pay a few extra dollars for great service. Best to go with a party of at least 4 so you experience their banquet, which allows you to try multiple dishes, as well as multiple servings of them, you must also try their lime and ginger, incredible! I find them very generous with their promotional offers (buy one get one free, etc). Have been there 4 times and each time has been brilliant.

We live in Bangkok and my wife is from Isaan. This restaurant does not serve Issan food. The lack of flavours, the overuse of chilli, the obsequious service and the fact that while advertising itself as BYO refused to allow us to open the wine we bought. Anyone rating this restaurant as anything but below standard, has not eaten true Issan food.
