Took my Wife there for her B'day, what a mistake.

We had the $49 banquet and whilst the portion was fine, the quality was terrible. The Tzatziki & Eggland dip were bland and had no taste whatsoever, the bread was "Turkish" bread (if I wanted Turkish bread I'd go to a Turkish restaurant) and the Saganiki was so Salty it was almost unbearable.

The next dishes were the Seafood and Meat. Again, further disappointment. The Seafood has NO flavour whatsoever and were just all deep fried, disgusting. The Meat was terrible as well, especially the Lamb that was undercooked. All the Meats and Seafood had no marinade or seasoning, bland as.

    The dessert was ok.

Overall, extremely disappointing and I will never go back. I knew I should of stuck to Jims Tavern as that place is brilliant but I thought I'd give this place a go, what a mistake and would not recommend anyone going there... Sorry Othello's :(

I have visited the restaurant several times now and it has decreased in standard every time. Such a shame. The lamb is inedible, it is so fatty and overcooked that I am surprised that so many customers choose this dish. I believe they choose it for the last time. I tried several of the seafood dishes, calamari, octopus and fish, they did not taste fresh and their cooking standards are below par.

In addition to the low quality food, their waiters are unresponsive and with no cheer, quite deflated. I was embarrassed each time the waiters came to our table to take orders and bring our food.

Poor quality food, low standard customer service, high prices. Definitely not giving them another chance.

We visited Othello over the weekend in a group of 7 for a friends birthday. It was very pleasant sitting outside but that was the only positive comment made by any of the group. We struggled to get drinks service throughout lunch. The food was not up to standard. The lamb was inedible. So overcooked you couldn't chew it! A friend had the calamari and she said that was tough. The garlic prawns were very bland and disappointing. We won't be going back.

Othello have moved around the corner, and so are now just off the main Southbank promenade. The new premises have big windows and a nice outlook (but since the move, you don’t look out over the river), and there’s lots of outdoor seating if this appeals to you.

The food seems to have improved since our last visit some months ago. Our snapper was good and the moussaka was great, and the serves of both were quite large. The prices are in line with what you’d expect, not cheap, but reasonable value for Southbank. The service was friendly and helpful, and although things sometimes seemed a bit haphazard, everything happened as and when it was supposed to!

We have again visited Othello, on a busy Saturday night. Everything was fine with the service, water and menus on the table as soon as we were seated, orders promptly taken and food arrived in a timely manner. Enjoyed the cutlets mykonos and sticky date pudding!

We were the first diners in the restaurant but we had to ask for menus and we had to wave to the staff member to get her attention so that we could order. We ordered the banquet but without the sausages.

Food was passable (the sausages were served!) but it was poor and quantity for $90 for 2. The dips had a slight skin on them (assume it was because the plates were prepared earlier in the day). Main meal was disappointing, tough lamb and not an overly generous quantity.

On the table next to us, the customers asked a waiter 3 times if they could place their order but was told by the waitress that she wasn't allowed to take order. The "approved" waitress eventually arrived to take their order. The highlight of the night was the waitress who was on her first shift, she added a nice personal touch by chatting with us.

Very noisy and hard to have a conversation with someone without practically yelling. We had the platter for two, which I was a bit disappointed with. There was plenty of it though and we could not get through it all. Service was fantastic, menus as soon as we sat, order taken quickly, and the first course of the platter was on our table in record time. For me though the noise was enough to turn me off going back.

Worst service ever. We had to ask for menu's, even offered to get them ourselves, and still had to wait, took an hour to get water on the table, drink order for 8 people took 40 minutes to serve. Food was ok, but they were burning some things in the kitchen and the smell filled the restaurant. Not a great place, would not go back.

We were there on a saturday night so it was very crowded and very noisy. But crowded as it was, the service was still very efficient. I asked if the drinks could be made a separate bill to the food, something that some places will not, or can not do, but again, these people were happy to do it for us. Four of us had the banquet and the others, specific dishes. All were served within reasonable time. The food is not spectacular (not many places are) but it was good and not unreasonably priced. I would go there again for that special occasion.

Service is appalling, repeated reminders, warm drinks, disinterested and incompetent staff. They're undergoing renovations at present, hence, the low ambience. It's strange that they'll invest so much in renovations whilst retaining such low service standards.

The food is just fantastic here, Iv'e been a handful of times and have had just the best. The mezedes sausages are fantastic with the seiftales a standout. The kleftiko is melt in your mouth tender. It being a southbank restaurant I'd expect to pay for bread and salads ala cart. For a southbank place I find it reasonably priced with only a couple mains over 25 dollars. You can have a salad and a couple of entrees and drinks for around 50 bucks. A great place to graze leisurely and people watch.
