Always be very skeptical when a review sounds like an advertisement and mentions everything on the menu. Very average house wines at this venue, best avoided unless you're watching a concert at docklands.

It's rare that I find a random casual weekday restaurant so refined, creative and well presented.

Personally I love Oysters, the Nixon Hotel cooks this in five different ways, natural, tempura, kilpatrik, parmesan and salsa. I usually eat natural only but couldn't resist the salsa which is a mix of olives and spicy tomato. I must admit the oyster natural tasted like it's been on ice for sometime, not as fresh I would have liked as from similarly priced oysters at Steakhouse or much more expensive at Toofey's (can't really compare to Sydney Rocks).

For the main I had the lamb shank, one of my favourites, hard to do well because of the amount of effort that it takes to make it tender. The lamb shank was just right at Nixon, again well presented with sweet potato slices spread evenly across the plate. On the downside there were some renegade bone shrapnel in the sauces, unexpected but could be a one time mistake.

I have to try their steaks next time and see how accurate they cook their medium. And, perhaps, try some dessert. Also test the level of professionalism and staff knowledge of dining etiquette to give a more accurate rating.
