Montalto Restaurant was a disappointment. The food was average and the service was poor (Surly, uninformed waiter and a Maitre d' who couldn't maintain eye contact nor deal effectively with a complaint. After reading such great reviews I was shocked to have such a poor experience. Having dined at other vineyard restaurants on the Peninsula and Yarra Valley, Montalto Restaurant was the worst dining experience. In sum, find another less hyped restaurant on the Peninsula for a more enjoyable dining experience.

This is about the fifth time that we have eaten here and the team never fail to impress as the food and service have always been exceptional. We had a lovely afternoon wandering through the vineyard and olive groves whilst looking at the sculptures, and finished the day with a wine tasting out by the Piazza. If you are visiting the Peninsula this is one place that you must visit, you won't be disappointed.

A beautiful restaurant, lovely views, perfect placement of tables. The food is fresh, creatively put together and served with great timing. The service was attentive and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful, although not at your beckoned call, we had to wave a few times to get water topped up etc. That definitely did not diminish the gorgeous experience overall however.

Take a wander through the garden and grounds after you've eaten, they are beautiful and the resident flock of ducks that watch you eating are a pleasure to see.

This would have to be the one of the very best restaurants I ever been to. My wife and I were recently on holiday in the Mornington Peninsula and went here on a Monday for lunch. One of the very few restaurants open on a Monday for lunch during Winter.

The view was magnificent overlookimg the vineyards. We were greeted very warmly by the floor Manager and shown to our table. The quality of the food was excellent the seared scallops were just right sometimes at other places they just don't sear them enough but these were perfect. The duck was brilliant as was the pork belly along with the side dish of chat potatoes.

For dessert we had the souffle which was just the icing on the cake. We shared a bottle of their 2006 Montalto Chardonnay with our entree and mains which was perfect match. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.

The price was reasonable as we have paid more for less quality in the past in less spectactular places. We decided to go for a walk through the vineyard after lunch and which I would strongly recommend. Check out the sculptures, very interesting. Congratulation guys and thanks for providing a special occasion that we will cherish and remember always.

A purely pleasurable experience, with exceptional food and silver service. Ambience is breathtaking, considering the vineyard next to the dining room. My favorite restaurant in Victoria.

The most brilliant restaurant: beautiful views, friendly, well-groomed staff and Chef Barry Davis is truly a genius of flavours who knows how to construct a dish, rather than proposing some dishes or ingredients just because they are en vogue for the moment. Amazing herb garden are adding to the freshness and orginality of each dish. 10/10
