Tried a few other cake shops along Ackand st and this was the pick. We had a Chocolate Kupbelhopf? (something we had never had before but was amazing) and a orange hazelnut cake. Both really hit the mark.

Inside it is very original and you could just imagine how it was many years ago. Very unique place!

Try the polish cheesecake, it's awesome, the vanilla slice is pretty good as well, a nice unique place with good coffee and great cakes.

Try the brandy snaps, they're well worth buying. They also have a nice variety of slices. Yum.

The fact that their legendary Kugelhopf is a whopping $18 is testament to how popular and scrumptious it is. This bakery / cafe / patisserie hails from Hungary, which is made evident through the traditional Hungarian sweets and the vintage posters adorning the walls. They have Kremes (Vanilla custard slice), Kifli (shortbread crescents), Beigli (poppyseed and walnut strudels), and everything made of cherries you can imagine. Even sitting inside you are surrounded by jars of Hungarian morello cherries! Yes, I did buy the Kugelhopf (actually two *tsk tsk*) and all its winding layers of buttery pastry and rum-scented chocolate. If you are looking for something other than St Kilda's typical cheap-o cream slathered cakes, this is the place for you.
