Misuzu's is a highly popular and respected Japanese restaurant in Albert Park. Inside is a cafe on the ground floor, a bar and a more formal dining area. Sake enthusiasts and vegetarians will find Misuzu's the place to be. Sashimi, sushi, noodles and curry dishes are present in the menu. Red lanterns inside and lamp lights outside lend an exotic touch to Misuzu's.

Average food, I would not even classify it as traditional japanese food. Rude service and long waiting time. Highly overpriced too. And why can't a customer take food from the salad bar and take at the restaurant itself while waiting? (Despite already ordering food from the restaurant) No clarity on that and non-logical from a customer point of view. I would understand if the customer only wants takeaway but to restrict it from restaurant customers is atrocious. Rude and unclear explanation from customer service staff too, especially the asian faggot (guy) wearing skinny jeans. Would not go far. I would give service -5, not 1.

I love Misuzus! I've only ever had food from the take away salad/sushi bar and it is amazing, I love the japanese pancake. A little over priced, but the food is worth it.

Misuzu's Japanese food quality is actually not too good to be honest. Nearly none of the dishes were prepared in a traditional way. Just for example - a bowl of Tempura Soba with have a too strong soya and spice base soup, the tempura is so big and doughy, it dominates the Soba. A curry dish doesn't really tasting like Japanese curry, or the pumpkin curry dish tasting more like Sri Lankan food, Teriyaki dishes being a bit too bold as Japanese dishes, etc.
Having said all of that, the model works, it is still enjoyable to a sense that if you eat the hot food or even Sushi or Sashimi or the other lovely small morsels and tofus and eggplants, croquettes, here, etc, it goes better with an acidic wine than a normal Sake or Shochu.
Similarly on Umami side, despite the temptation to try the Sake tastings, the bolder food here goes better with the Nigori cloudy sakes or a Sauv Blanc or even a wooded Chardonnay to balance the food.
Thoroughly enjoy it as an experience and for drinking and eating Japanese tapas with friends... although I only agree with half of the dishes here. Some are just too overwhelming in taste, it reminds me of Wagamama in execution.
One of my favourite non-traditional Japanese eateries in Melbourne. I give it 7.5 out of 10, just short of an 8.

We had not been to Mizuzu's since it reopened after their fire but we would have to say that it is even better than before. The food is always as fresh as can be with great flavours and varied, and interesting dishes as well as great sashimi etc. They obviously love their work. Even the expresso coffee was top quality.

After the renovation, I feel as though Misuzu went down hill. They have increased the price and the portions are smaller. Also the salad bars' salads are only for take away.

I've been to the wonderful Misuzu's at least half a dozen times and each and every experience has been FABULOUS. Fresh contemporary Japanese, sashimi that is divine little jewel like morsels, the most incredible almond prawns and real miso broth they make themselves.
Even though Japanese food can be pricey, from my experience of eating at a LOT of Japanese restaurants, I find Misuzu's surprisingly good value even with a couple of sake's on the bill. If you're after an el cheapo night out don't go there (or any Japanese place for that matter) but do go if you want quality modern Japanese fare, reasonably good service and an awesome sake list to choose from. Long live Misuzu's!!

Nice place, very busy. Getting service was a bit of a task at times but the food was pretty good. It's a modernised Japanese restaurant. It's not a cheap eat but it's not total extravagance either. It's someware in between. Entree was around $7, mains were about $12. I would definitely go again.

Great food at a great price! Can be a little squashy but it is more than worth it. Love going there and will go back again and again!
