Decided to try this place as it was recommended. Ordered the banquets and a few bottles of wine. Food was plentiful, tasty and well worth the per head. Delightful eggplant dish and amazing pickles! Ambience was subdued and comfortable with the service being top notch. Great restaurant, would recommend to others and will be back myself.

Went for a Sunday morning yum cha with some mates. About 10 of us in a table. Service was disappointing. We asked about 10 times for some steam dim sims but they just kept telling us it's sold out or it's still being cooked. All was served to us was all the fried ones!

Food was okay not too bad but the lack of varieties that was available when we're dining was something that put off us a little.

A bit disappointed considering that some of my mates had been here before and they recommended us to come here as an alternatives of heading to the city.

We'd had a number of reasonable Yum Cha excursions here: not as much variety as some other Yum Cha palaces, and some overcooked fried items, but a fair price. Dinner was another story, better quality food, but shocking, indifferent service. It's suburban and showing its age and I assume from the dinner performance that the owners have made their fortune, so don't care about return customers.

Have been to this place at least 20 times over the years. Twice in the past month and on each occasion I've been up all night with headaches and feeling very dehydrated. I don't think they used to use much Msg, if any but now it appears to be overloaded.

Add this to the fact that when we went last week, every dish we ordered was on the table within 3 minutes of placing the order. Most of the dishes are obviously prepared earlier, and only one or two dishes actually tasted hotter than warm. Won't be going back!

Last night (1st April 2012) our family went Golden Dragon Palace for my Mum’s Birthday dinner. We had a great time and really enjoyed. This was first time I went to there. It is a very nice suburban Chinese restaurant; especially there was a live piano performance to make everyone more enjoyable. The atmosphere is almost magical, also the waters made you very comfortable with their excellent services during the dinner. A must trying Chinese restaurant in Melbourne!!! I definitely will go back there.

Don't bother. Rude service for take away. And are rude about it when they get your order wrong. Dumplings could be alot better.

Ok service and conveniently opened late but hellishly overpriced for ordinary Chinese food. Very limited menu that made us wish we'd just gone to the food court or ordered room service. Wouldn't return or recommend. A thorough disappointment.

My wife's second time and my first at the Gold Leaf Preston for Sunday Yum Cha. It had the real feel of Asia when we dined today, a huge noisy venue, fresh dishes, and brisk service.

I found the foods to be of a high standard, super fresh and hot, and a good range. Maybe not quite the atmosphere of some of the better known restaurants in the city, but we really enjoyed our lunch there today and will be back again.

I just bought Roast duck noodle (take away) for the New Kum Den. My gosh is the worst Roast Duck dry noodle I ever had in my life. The noodle is not cook and it was dry, not even with little duck sauce or anything. The Quarter of the Roast duck came as small pieces from every part (not a proper quarter duck). Tastely! - I am not sure is that because I order a takeaway thats why they basically don't care about the food they sell.

If I was sitting at the shop I would ask them to take the dish back and give me another one! all my friend was shock seeing the uncooked noodle. I basically have 2 spoon of the noodle (not edible) and taste the roast duck! It was terrible. I am not a critic myself and never had written any review for restaurant. But this dish is above my acceptable limit - No one will eat the dish. I just wasted $12 and my lunch hour. Surely will not go back again!

Worst yum cha in Melbourne. Staff are arrogant and out of touch. Used to be bustling happy high end eatery. Now place is stuck together with duck tape, literally and the service is non existent. Managers prance around looking very important but don't actually do anything. Terrible and very sad to see this happen to such a great place.

Good food, but it took about an hour for our food to arrive from the time that we ordered. An hour! And one of my empty plates had a drop of sauce on it, so the waiter wiped it off with his thumb. And I ordered coffee with the dessert and only dessert came, so I waited longer, but eventually had to order my coffee again. But apart from that, delicious food.

During Chinese new year eve dinner, the service is completely disappointing! Soup yet finish and the waiter didn't ask and take away the whole lot, same as prawn cracker. Asked us to order the dessert from their menu as complimentary dessert, then they put that into our bill, and then they deny they told us as complimentary dessert! Also, the waiters chased us away while many other tables still sitting there talking. Their services got so bad lately!

We booked here for a birthday and took a banquet. Not only overpriced, but the food was very average, took an extremely long time to be serviced and the dishes were not served according to the menu. A dish was swapped out and the waitress said due to their long wait and mistake, that it would be a complimentary dish, however did not serve a second dish as promised. Overall, a very bad experience. I certainly would not recommend here for a function as large as 20 people at $900. Beware of bad service and rude wait staff.

What an awful experience this place is overrated and the banquet meal is overpriced it was served cold and a lack of food for the price. Would never go there again even if was for free.

It was Wednesday afternoon about 1:15 pm and had to wait to even get noticed when there were servers walking up and down right in front of us. For a Yum Cha they had most of the selections either not available or had run out.

The a la carte order that we placed was replaced by cold dishes sitting in the trolley and the server tells us 15 minutes later that the ordered items were not available anyway. Had to run out with two hungry kids.

Had yum cha before 11-12noon rush, plenty of tables, attentive waiters for drinks. Plenty of food carts, fresh steamed items very nice. A good selection of fried dishes which were good. We had about a dozen dishes, for $60. Filled 2 adults and a child very well. Will be back!

Painfully slow (really!) and disorganized service combine with ordinary food to make this a forgettable experience save for the "jasmine, lychee, white tea" which was a watery cup containing a bundle of dead leaves for $5.90. Give it a miss.

I've lived in the area for a long time, but had yet to give this place a shot, so I decided to try it for dinner. The food was excellent and well presented, and the service was not bad. Staff were polite, although their english could use some improvement. Food was slightly slow in coming out, but after asking for it to be quicker it came out fine. Overall a good night, will be back!

We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our food to arrive. Seems like each meal was cooked individually. By the time the last person got their meal the first person had finished quite some time before. The food was very good. Service appalling. We were not offered drinks apart from wine. The restaurant was not busy, an indication of their poor service perhaps. Don't go here unless you want to wait for your meal.
