Had such an amazing night at Hellenic Republic! The food was authentic and what you would get in a taverna in Greece.

Highlight would be the lamb and the moussaka. The Cypriot grain salad is also a must. For dessert I got the 'Ekmek kataifi pagoto' which is a pastry with cherries, custard and mastic ice cream. Amazing!

Also had a nice chat with a waitress from Greece, she was lovely to talk to her and very attentive. Planning my next trip to Melbourne just to have dinner at Hellenic Republic!

I enjoyed dinner at Mama Baba. Staff was very busy but still smiling and friendly, trying to make us feel welcome. Sat at the open kitchen bar area. It was awesome to see the chefs working away up close. One of the chefs gave us a 'leftover' salad. The food was rich and tasty. Definitely need to hit the gym now but well worth it.

Lovely location and cosy space with a mixture of couch, table and bench seating. Did get very noisy though. The service was very good. Unfortunately,m the food was terrible.

Overall there was a distinct lack of seasoning. The best thing we tried were the Chefs Choice Croquettes (Mushroom, Leek and Parmesan). On the bland side but still nice. From there nothing else impressed. The dips were flavourless and served with lumps of Turkish Bread instead of Flat Bread as described in the menu. Pork Belly was not cooked/rendered enough so was fatty and tough. The sauce tasteless.

But by far the worst dish was the Chorizo. It was barely poached in a horrible apple/mint watery gravy. I took 2 bites and could not eat anymore. Never had such bad chorizo. It should have been all caramelised, crispy and brown on the outside instead of pale with the skin hanging loosely. We didn't risk ordering dessert based on the standard of the mains. Having been looking forward to going here for ages I was beyond disappointed.

2nd visit (1st 4 years ago) Not very impressed unfortunately. Booked for Mothers Day, was not told when booking that it was a set menu. Arrived and was told it was 'a set' after saying that I wasn't informed when booking and not particularly happy, was told that the senior staff would come and have a chat with me. That didn't occur.

The set menu was for 2 persons based on $42.00 per person, we paid $45 person plus drinks. Admittedly didn't check the bill till after paying. There was no separate bowl of olive oil (normally served at Greek restaurants for dipping). The dips though tasty were small in portion. The octopus was not tangy with lemon as expected. Which brings me to the point of having a set menu, what if people are allergic to certain foods, or come to a lunch with a budget? If I had been told, I would have gone elsewhere.

The baklava was burnt on the bottom. The corkage $4.50 per bottle (love that as we opened and poured our own drinks, so $4.50 for the cost of a glass on the table). All in all disappointed with the outcome. The way we show a restaurant we like it is to return, sadly we won't.

The venue inside is huge, doesn't look it from the outside and the set out is very spacious. We had a fun night. The food was very good and fresh. The band was average. We had a very cheerful and lovely waitress who was very helpful with explaining the dips to us, and later got up and sung (incredible voice).
We had a nice night, the only let down was the band, very average Greek music.

Agapi is a delight. My partner and I went for a late lunch on a Saturday. I half expected them to say we were too late for lunch and I would not have been offended as it was nearly 2.00 pm when we arrived but we were welcomed and looked after.

Service was prompt and friendly, and I mean really friendly, without being intrusive. We shared dips for entree but, unusually for us, my partner and I both chose Moussaka for main. It was divine. We both loved it.

Prices are reasonable and great value for money. We will definitely return.

Warning to all voucher holders: ensure they provide the right quantity of food as specified in the voucher. Used 2 vouchers for 6 people and were provided with quantity for 4 people. Entrees came after an hour of seating and staff seemed disinterested in serving us. Had to leave with half empty stomach.

It was out first time at Byzantine and we found the food to be delicious and plentiful. The service was good for a busy Saturday Evening (our waitress was great). My husband and I will definitely come again and bring our friends and family. I think it is really good how the bread is brought out without asking for extra.

I was not a fan of this place.

Our group was placed in the back corner, with poor lighting. The rest of the restaurant was illuminated, whilst we were in very dim lighting. It was that dim we couldn't even see the colour of our food.

We were also told they had no gyros meat. How on earth does a Greek Restaurant not have gyros meat! If we had known there was no gyros meat, we wouldn't have eaten there.

They forgot one of our platters, and we had to wait 20 minutes for it to come out, by then nobody wanted any. We were told it was only going to be 5 minutes.

Service was also poor. The food is extremely overpriced, with little value.
We will never return to this restaurant, next time we will go somewhere else, which we know has amazing Greek food and service.

I ate at this restaurant on my own a few weeks ago after an evening of shopping, it was 9pm and I was looking forward to a good meal. I ordered the fish and it was Ok although not spectacular for the price, but that was fine. I also ordered a bottle of still water which was only available in a 1L size which was a bit much for one person (they don’t seem to cater for lone diners), and when I asked for the cap so I could bring the rest with me when I left I was told it didn’t have a screw cap. I let it go as I reasoned that this is outside of the waitresses’s control.

At the end of the meal, I was asked if I wanted any tea or coffee and I ordered a chamomile tea. When my drink arrived, I realised that it was in fact green tea, but again I thought I’d let it go it wasn’t too big a deal.

When I went to pay my $53 bill, I realised that they had overcharged me for the wine as they had listed the wrong wine on the bill. When I queried this I was asked by the rather young looking waiter if I wanted him to correct the bill. Well, even though it was just a $2 error it should go without saying that bill is corrected.

While I was distracted by the conversation about my bill, another waiter cleared my table and threw out the remaining water in the 1L bottle that I was going to take home. These may all sound like minor irritations, but added all together they made for a very frustrating evening and I would expect a better level of service for the money I paid. I will not be going back to this restaurant if I can help it, although there isn’t much other choice at Westfield Doncaster.

My husband and I took another couple to dinner last night as a thank you we chose the press club having eaten there several times before. I ask you George what have you let happen to your once lovely restaurant?

The degustation menu was obscenely overpriced, literally nine mouthfuls of food for $135 pr hd and at least three of those mouthfuls were very unpleasant. The service was comically pretentious, the wine prices were outrageously marked up.

All in all a very expensive $900 for four people but overwhelming a huge disappointment and none of the four of us, regular diners and restaurant patron, would never ever go to the Press Club again.

Good to see a greek restaurant not neglecting fish, as happens all too often in this city! Top notch food with good service. Definitely deserves a return visit.

We found the venue on the web and going from the menu were quite impressed.
Upon arrival, great building but the mediterranean theme was lacking. We decided on the thursday special Tapas for 2 with Sangria, for a start it was 8pm and were told they had run out of Sangria we were offered another drink.

Service was extremely slow for a small venue with 3 floor staff who were all over the show with there service. The amount of time between tapas was long portions were very small for the price for 2 people. The food was bland, the meatballs lacked any flavour. A shame as the Venue could be so much better with some more thought into food, service and ambience.

Never again, we had a voucher for 4 people and we were expecting a great night. We booked for 6pm and ordered, but food never arrived till 7.012pm. Even so, we were happy to wait but when the food got to the table, it was so small in proportion and I suspect that because we had a voucher,the skimped on it. What a disappointing evening.

My second time here but not as good as the first that's for sure! The banquet was similar but with minor changes which were a mistake they shouldn't stuck to the original banquet!

The dessert wasn't the authentic loukoumades served warm with walnuts and honey instead a custard ball with a sour coating which was horrible. The salmon was too undercooked and more like japanese style and the skin was not crispy at all, the salads tasted indian what happened to a good old horiatiki salata with cucumber and tomatoes? They replaced the beautiful tiganites patates with boiled potatoes and the scallops tasted different too last time they sat on a dollop of garlic skordalia on the shell this time they weren't as tasty.

Overall still nice but disappointing compared to my first experience there.

Haven't been to Seagull for 12 months, it was looking a bit dated but I love the new paint job, still the best seafood I have tasted, love the busy ambience of this place. We normally have the banquet but you will need a big apetite to get through it all. We started coming here 15 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's the same owner.

Love this place Been here 3 times. Once we had a voucher and were treated equally as well as at others. Food was excellent not sloopy BBQ like at many Greek spots. Loved the entrees, similair to others but more refined. The Mussels in a delicate sauce were sublime (finished the sauce w a spoon!). Calamari, brilliant texture. Overall Yum and a great place to take anyone, classy but comfortable. My fav greek eatery.

We attended a friends birthday party, and were very disappointed.

The first plate served was very nice, mostly home cooked food with home made bread, but that was the only nice thing about this place, the other platters were disgusting, the lamb was overcooked and dry, and the fish and prawns were yesterdays leftovers. There was no service throughout the night, all the guests had to go up to the bar to collect their own drinks.

The dance floor is large, but the band was lousy, they could not play greek music to save their lives. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Wow! Friends have been telling me about this place for ages. I live half way across town, managed to get over there over the weekend and let me tell you, I have been missing out! Starting backwards, Loukoumathes for dessert are made to order and are the best I have had. The well done bits on the gyro were spot on (sticky not too salty but full of flavour).

The waiter recommended the baked fish and it was so good! I ordered a ouzo with my octopus and saganaki entree and it made my day. Going back with mates next week!

I understand that Lambs is a venue you locate after an evening out with friends when you have missed the dinner train, but...it was a Melbourne institution for just such occasions. I find myself so enraged by the quality of food served that I have to write this note. I presented the fatty, gristly meat back to the counter and Nonna and they were not interested.

This was the worst kebab I have had and considering Lambs is supposedly the best in Melbourne the fall from grace is spectacular. It is such a shame as the reputation of Lambs was something that should have been cherished.
