Had a fab night at Bistro Vue on recent trip to Melbourne. Really great service and fab food. Thought it was really good value for money and have recommended it to friends when they visit Melbourne next month.

My fiancé requested Italian for his birthday dinner and I choose il bacaro based on the raving reviews. We weren't disappointed. I liked the place from the moment we walked in. Tables aren't cramped together like at some other restaurants, and it had a romantic feel.

Food is amazing, highlights being the prawn filled zucchini flowers, the special pasta of mud crab tortellini, and the cheesecake dessert. The servings are a touch on the small side, but they usually are at restaurants of this caliber. It's not cheap, but it's definitely worth the money and we will be coming here again.

I went here with my partner for our anniversary. The interior design was very glamourous, but that was about it, under the facade there was no depth. The wait staff were quite aloof and lacked personality and friendliness.

The oysters were under sized and not fresh, you had to scrape them out of their shell and they would shred into mush.

The waiter forgot our complimentary bread, and when we asked for it in the middle of service, it still never came. The eye fillet was quite small, and for the size was over priced. Mid way through eating our steaks, we then received the selection of mustards to accompany our meal but it was too late, my partner had nearly finished his steak. The steak was not as tender or juicy as expected, and although had flavour, was not "amazing" as was expected for the price.

If you want an "amazing" steak everytime, go to Charcoal Grill on the Hill in Kew, or Ian Curly's restaurant The European, they are sure winners every time, and both places have the freshest, juiciest oysters and produce.

This place you are paying for eating in South Yarra, but you're not getting the quality, or love. Very disappointing.

We had an awful experience, firstly it took us weeks to actually get someone to answer the phone so we could buy tickets in the first place, as the website ticket purchasing was not working & they do not seem to have the ability to respond to emails or phone messages, finally we got through and purchased tickets, hoping for a fun night out we just found it to be disappointing, such tacky decor, & unhygienic, the menu was just plain and simple, not much to choose from and mostly deep fried.

Thank goodness there was the bar so you could drink your way through this very bland experience, the cocktails are also as plain and simple as the food menu, at least they have a few descent spirits in there selection, and at least you can hope the alcohol would have helped disinfected the glass you are drinking from. The staff are too busy with there own ego's, and wanting to get on stage rather than actually be of any service to anyone unless you are a friend it seems. We shall never go back, and discourage others from putting themselves through this insulting experience.

Normally the food is Fantastic, and I had recommended it to a few mates that had the same feelings, last night I didn't have the same experience and called the place just to register my concern and to ensure no one else had to have a sleepless night. The man that answer the phone (a mature fellow) needs a few lessons in customer service and learn to listen! I was the one that hadn't had much sleep, due to lack of sleep because I was ill.

We used the online booking form on their website to make an advance booking for Saturday, which has worked fine in the past, but when we arrived they had no record of the booking and told us they were full at the times we specified, they were unwilling to be accommodating, and they also didn't answer a previous email asking for clarification of their song list. Terrible service! Probably would not come back.

Food and service was excellent. No kids menu but the pizza worked well. Really fast service for a Sunday lunch. I was happy with the choice. Recommended.

What a disgrace with the tables looking like they needed to be properly cleaned. Then there were the flies all over the tables as we walked in. This was followed by the worst food presentation we have ever experienced in a Melbourne Restaurant. Words really fail me.

Went in on a Monday night to find the placed packed with Brunswick St hipster uni students and really loud doof doof dance music blaring out of the sound system. Walked through to the back and then had to wait for the waitress to finish chatting with her friends before being told to "just sit wherever". Left without trying anything, and this was disappointing as had heard good things about this place.

Went to Mosq with some friends as I love the whole Moroccan theme after visiting the country a few years ago. Although the decor was gorgeous, that is pretty much where the pleasant experience stopped for us. I love tapas menus but found little to love about this one. The dips were plain awful, the kofte was bland and tasted like it had been made a week ago and the sweet corn fritters tasted like flour with some corn in it.

The cocktails we had were lovely but took a long time to arrive. One of the wait staff was very attentive and friendly, the other was bordering on rude.

Overall it was a fairly average experience and I won't be in any rush to go back.

The Sunday Carvery is terrible. We will never go back and eat there again. The only reason we stayed is because of our friends. I would not recommend this meal to anyone.

Place was pretty busy but the ambience was nice. Would be good for a group outing or a date. Waiter was great considering the amount of people he had to help. Variety of wines to choose from and delicious range of food that is very well presented.

Take a simple recipe of good wine, good service and ambience and you get a great bar away from the City hordes. One thing missing was good service but if you can ignore that, it is not a bad place. Shouldn't be too hard for them to be a bit nicer, but it was.

I was invited to The Trust for a business lunch on a Tuesday at the end of Jan. The place was only about 10% full. It looked impressive with comfortable chairs and room between tables. The waiters were attentive but not helpful nor friendly.

After an average coffee and some very dried and ordinary bread, we ordered lunch. Two of us (of 4) ordered the only risotto in the menu. It was a huge mistake. It looked most unappetising and It Tasted - Awful. It tasted and smelled burnt and was quite dry. After 2 mouthfuls, I toyed with the thought of returning it But decided best not to return there. I only managed to finish 4 spoons and asked the waiter to clear my plate. To my surprise he did not notice that (nor bother ask why) most of the food was returned.

My fellow risotto diner after toying with his plate ate the best part of his risotto but also left a lot back on his plate. To be fair, the 2 other with us seemed not to worry with their meal.

I may have to go back as it did suit the purpose of our business lunch but this time I’ll try another main course.

Fantastic food and very good value for the quality of the food. The steak tartare and the French onion soup were both delicious entrees and while the lamb was a great main the confit duck was a standout, smoky, tender and beautifully cooked. The chestnut mousse dessert was also exceptional!

Wine menu was a little shallow at the lower priced range but nonetheless had some great options. Service was great, but it did border a bit on the too casual, especially from the staff.

All in all, highly recommended for a fantastic dinner with friends. As a romantic dinner (as I had), perhaps, it is too much of a bistro but nonetheless very enjoyable.

Il Paesano, is an absolute must for the value conscious, House wine is $4.50 and very drinkable, the food is always fresh bountiful and delicious, pasta, pizza, steaks and fish are all good. The service is excellent.We always leave full and happy. Ask about loyalty card 20% discount on already value for money prices.

They serve a mean burger and has a very long beer-list. Very good place to relax and overlook federation square, and the thursday beer-and-burger deal is very good value.
