Came here during a hot day in January. Even though there seemed to be alot of people it was still comfortable to get around. You can see that there are newer refurbished parts and still some older parts.

There is lots to see and do and seemed a lot of families were here. Definitely a winner for the kids. Some parts are better than others. Elephant and lions are probably the best.

Overall its a good day out if you love your animals, but truthfully for us about 2-3 hours was enough and we left.

    8.8 Highly Recommended

Visited Jun 2011. We had a wide open day, so Melbourne Zoo was pretty much the only thing we thought we could do since we've been to almost all the tourist attractions in Melbourne. Boy we were so glad we came here, should have made it higher on our list of "to-do". The layout is so nice, and after talking to one of the friendly zoo staff, we followed his recommendation that made the whole visit better.

We really enjoyed the baby elephants, baby Orangutan and the outback animals. We've never see a red panda before, so that was a treat. Getting here was a breeze too, right on the 55 tram route, making it easy to get to from downtown Melbourne.

We loved Melbourne Zoo. We took a family pass and go often to look at the animals and have a picnic. The food in the cafe is very average, so take your own packed lunch. We love the lions and the elephant enclosure. So much to see you need to go more than once.
