Next out were the meat cigars; spiced, lean lamb and pine nuts, wrapped in filo pastry, with a sweet, syrupy, unknown sauce on top. Thankfully, the lovely waiter who brought these out to us was more than happy to explain what everything was when we questioned what the previously mentioned falafels were. He said it was fantastic that we wanted to know more about our dishes, as it showed that we were excited about the food - very true. He happily explained what the meat cigars and the falafels were, and to the credit of the staff, the waiter and waitress we had for the remainder of the evening enthusiastically explained each following dish to us with a great big smile on their faces. I loved these little cigars, and was was relieved to find they actually weren't spicy at all! I think "spiced" means "herbed" or "flavoured with spices," not actually hot and spicy! I'm not sure what the sauce was, but it didn't seem to really go with the cigars... it was tasty, but it just wasn't quite right.

Recommended as one of the premier Lebanese restaurants in Melbourne. If you are in a large group, you're forced to have the banquet. Fortunately, it's a massive feed with more food than you'll ever need. Service is top notch. And then there's the belly dancing performance.

We had the banquet with seafood and a bottle of white wine, with use of a discount voucher, the bill came to $116. The food was all excellent and servings generous, we asked for our dessert to be packed in a takeaway container, no problem with that. I do not eat desserts and MM was full. Service was prompt and friendly, even though the place was packed.

Went to Maroush on Saturday night. On first impression, entering through the magnificent front foyer with a fountain in the middle, we peered through two sets of glass doors on either side to see the restaurant was chockers, and we thought we were in for some pretty bad service.
We were welcomed, however, with smiles, walked to our tables, menus in waiters hand, with a glass of water poured on arrival. The place was buzzing. The atmosphere was electric, a little loud but we like that. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine, which, for house wine, were excellent. We were about to order ala carte, when the waiter chimed in and recommended the banquet.
We were a little apprehensive at first, because we have tried other Lebanese banquets and weren't impressed, but being our first time here, we decided to try it. And what a banquet. The food was so fresh and tasty, and it just kept coming out and for around $40 I think it was a bargain.
The waiter kept coming over to check we were enjoying the food and asking us if we needed anything. The table was kept spotless with plates being removed immediately after we finished. They gave us fresh plates and cutlery between courses, I must say, the service at this place was simply tip-top.
Then the belly dancer came out and that was excellent too, although the music was a little too loud. I have to say something about the cleanliness about this place too. I got up to go to the bathroom and I must say, for such a busy night, the bathrooms were spotless, passing the open kitchen on the way back I yelled in to say how nice the food was, only to be greeted by the chefs with smiles and thumbs up. These guys are obviously happy. The kitchen was very clean.
We enjoyed our time so much, that when paying, I made a booking again for to following week and I'm bringing my friends. I recommend Maroush to anyone who appreciates top quality food, and exceptional service in a magnificent venue.
Excuse the long review, but I am yet to be impressed with a restaurant like I am with Maroush.

The service here is always friendly. The food is not startling but consistently good. The banquet is priced so that it is the best value, and courses are spaced well. From dips, flat bread, tabbouli, meat filled and cheese filled pastries, falafel, spicy sausages and patties, a couple of main courses, rice and salad, followed by custard, turkish delight, sakes and traditional turkish coffee.
The restaurant is both licensed and BYO wine and corkage of $4 is quite fair. My only complaint is that all three times I have been there I have found it draughty. First time I thought it was the table location near the front window, but now I think they just keep the fan adjustment on too high on the air con.

This is by far my most favourite Lebanese Restaurant. The food at Maroush is delicious, the service is warm, friendly and very accommodating. The decorations in the restaurant give that authentic feel and the belly dancer on Friday/Saturday nights provides something different and fun. The banquet is the way to go, you get to try a bit of everything and it's very filling. I highly recommend Maroush to anyone wanting a truly great Lebanese meal!

Are you kidding? If you want an overpriced meal, poor service, and an atmosphere dominated by ill-disciplined children, with the "run" of this restaurant then this is the place you have been looking for!

If we want a lovely meal, with exquisite service and a warm atmosphere in beautiful surroundings, Maroush is our choice. So far we have not found any restaurants in Melbourne that makes us feel as prioritized and welcomed as this place. The service and concern for our individual satisfaction is the same every time, independent of how many people they serve. We can bring our own wine if we prefer that.

In all honnesty, i think you might have gone to the wrong restaurant, because comparing your review to my experience, there is absolutely no comparison.
Personally, I have been there numerous times and everytime I just cannot get enough. The food is exquisite, the service is delightful and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I definitely recommend this restaurant especially for those who understand in quality and service.
