Visited Maria's on a Thursday night and the place was very busy. The ambience is ok, and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. For 5 people we ordered 2 serves of Garlic Bread, a salad, a bowl of olives, and 4 main serves of pasta and the bill only came to just over $100 which is very good value!
The food itself was pretty good, had the veal tortellini and it was easily my favourite of the night, extremely tasty and you can tell it is home made. Also had the pumpkin agnolotti which was the next best, and also a fettucine and also a marinara. The fettucine was ok, but the marinara wasn't up to scratch, not enough seafood ingredients in it. From what I've read, perhaps, that's the traditional Italian style so can be forgiven if that's the case.
Overall an enjoyable experience and we will go back.
I've been to Maria's on several occassions for lunch and dinner over the past 10 years, the foods always good without being fancy, great value and the staff are always pleasant.
It was recommended by friends to go to Maria Trattoria for dinner one night. I would have to say that I thouroughly enjoyed my meal (we all did - four of us).
We didn't have an entree with our main but did have Bruschetta which was nice. Found the prices to be very reasonable for meals and drinks. Greeted by the host on arrival and everyone that came in seemed to be.
Have only been there once and looking forward to going back for another meal.
The only downfall that I found is that it can be a bit cool on a cold night, so don't sit near the entrance door if you feel the cold.
Simply the worst pasta ever. A group of us went here for an early dinner and were surprised to find that the restaurant was still housing extremely drunk diners from the lunch service. Why were they so drunk you may ask? My tongue in cheek guess is that the food is so appallingly horrible that you want to drink to forget the horror of what you've just eaten.
I ordered a Spagetti Marinara which was enormous....loads of spaghetti but a struggle to find the seafood. Literally, mounds of bland packet spagetti, drowning in oil and garlic and a few hidden offerings of tiny bottled mussels literally the size of a small caper. Three prawns and two unbearded mussels as garnish. Just revolting.
To top it all off, they did nothing to control an extremely drunk patron. Three tables around us were all distressed by this man's foul and loud language but it really was over the top when he went to the toilet and ended up in the kitchen instead, without the staff even blinking an eye. A few doors away is there is a restaurant...either go there or cook at home for a fraction of the price. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.
Traditional Italian food with a family run feel to the place. Friendly service, the hostess seemed to greet most customers on a first name basis. The steaks are great value. The marinara was pale and a little tasteless but probably because it was a traditional Italian style. Very family friendly here.
