The food at Mangia Bevi was wonderful, I went with 2 friends and all of our meals were superb. We had a garlic foccacia to share and steak and lamb as mains. We had cake and gelati for dessert. Unfortunately, as the restaurant filled with people the service went down hill. One waitress for a full house on a Saturday is not sufficient.

It went from a 10 minutes wait for entree, to a little longer for mains and then almost a 1/2 an hour for our cakes to be plated up. Everyone working there was under the pump and this became even more apparent when we had to send back our bill 3 times as it was incorrect. In the end I got up and had it corrected myself. Great food that was let down by under staffing and thus poor service.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food. My goodness! Nice to see large portions for such great value (becoming a thing of the past these days). My partner ordered Prawn Linguini and it actually had prawns in it! 11 large prawns to be exact, Again a rare experience for a dish priced at just over $20. Did she finish it, The prawns yes! but not all the linguine. We may have made the mistake of ordering the trio of dips to share beforehand as we were both feeling a little half full before our mains arrived. My only criticism of the food was the dips did taste a little commercial (apologies if they aren't). They certainly made up for it though with the amount of tasty bread that was served to accompany the dips. I mean WOW! there was alot.

The waitress was pleasant too but did forget to bring our wine. The wine came after the entree arrived and we had to ask for it again, never a good thing, but it appeard she was on her own. I'm very forgving especially having come from a hospitality background. I honestly think they may not have expected it to be as busy as it was. After all it was only Tuesday night. All in All we are looking forward to dining there again (soon!) and have recommended Mangia Bevi to others too. Forget Lygon Street. if you want an enjoable night out of Pizza & Pasta (& more). Head straight to Templestowe. Its worth the trip. Cheers

PS. By the way I had a beautiful pizza with anchovies, nice to taste the anchovies everytime you take a bite. You know what I'm talking about Anchovy lovers out there. Comparable to the amount of anchovies you would put on your own Pizza. Lots!! Great stuff.
