Very few Dockland restaurants are good value but this is an exception for what I think as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. Food is about on par with Lau's Family Kitchen in St Kilda, loses some points on their wine list and wins those points back on their cocktails.

Service is 6/10, very high for a Chinese restaurant but the only area that's lacking. Once the restaurant is full, service is slow and you can never catch their line of sight, almost as if they are trying to turn a blind eye on purpose.

If they pick up service a bit more, and improve their wine list, I'm sure they'll make it into the one hat category.

I don't know why I keep getting sucked in to eating at Cantonese restaurants. You can recite the menu before you even walk in and sit down, the standards are as generic as a Taco Bill. Dim Sum, Sang Choy Boy, chicken in some awful black bean sauce etc. surely the millions of people in China have some variety?

This place is more than just Cantonese and the food it does is ok. But it is boring!....middle of the road stuff for middle of the road palates. Nothing fresh and popping off the plate.

Great location, excellent service, well priced wines. If you too get sucked in to a Cantonese hit every so often this is as good a place as any I guess.

Great experience for a dinner. Entrees were well portioned and delicious. Main meals are perfect sizes, I had the duck and orange sauce. Service was quick and the waterfront view makes it extra special. The price isn't too expensive for a fancier restaurant.

Great staff, although at one point the waiter came to the table reeking of cigarette smoke. Wonderful food, 4 of us had the same banquet. All were happy and none left hungry (and it was one of the smaller banquets!). Beautifully presented food, brought to the table as one dish, taken to be divided and returned as 4 portions, very nice touch. Loved the wasabi prawns, which had a sweet mayo like sauce just coloured with wasabi, not hot at all.

The beef was so soft, easy to bite through when using chopsticks. Calamari a bit tough, probably noticed more because we were using chopsticks and was quite hard to bite through. Peking duck was good. Sauce was all at the bottom so first bite was duck and last bite was sauce, would have been better if sauce was evenly distributed through the dish. Still cannot believe Docklands was so quiet on a Fri night! We had an intimate setting and the staff became friendlier and more relaxed towards the end of the evening. Great night, can't wait to do it again.

Update 20/9/08: As we are now regulars here we have worked our way through most of the menu and as Chinese food addicts this is one of Melbourne’s best. We now steer away from the banquets and any special requests will be happily met by the kitchen. We have also dined here with large family groups and service is excellent. One of our most favourites!

Previous review: We dine here quite regularly and have yet to have a bad meal; we usually have the banquet which allows you to sample some of the chief's specialities that are what we consider to be very modern Chinese. The restaurant is overlooking the water @ Docklands and the service is excellent.

Expensive Asian 'fusion' food, small portions. Over-attentive service. I have eaten better Asian food at more realistic prices in other locations in Melbourne.

Worst service we have ever had in Melbourne. Food is not bad, nice look and taste. But not recommend to those who would like to try authentic Chinese cuisine. Very westernised food served in a named Chinese restaurant. Won't go there a second time!

The quality of the food was truly superior - the meal was fresh and flavoursome. We ordered a banquet which allowed us to sample various signature dishes. The waiter was very attentive to individual needs (which was impressive, because we were part of a large group). Although in the higher price bracket, the quality of food and service made my meal a memorable and enjoyable experience.
