Yummy food, very reasonable prices. My pick? Kerala paratha and the chicken butter masala. Or just a plain cheese dosa. Try to steer clear of the bainmarie!

Excellent Food, everything is so tasty, We had the dosa, manchurian gobi and chicken, mutton briyani and the malabar fish curry with some parathas. Ambience is as expected from a small eatery, its not the best.

Service was Ok, there is at least 2 people serving in the restaurant and due to the small size of the restaurant, we are always covered. Just don't expect that your glass will be filled everytime its empty (those kind of service).

Value - very good value, good amount of servings. Overall, a very good experience. Will definitely come back.

Excellent food. Almost similar to authentic kerala cuisine. Very friendly staff. Lamb biryani is worth.

Bismi used to be the most delicious and best value Indian joint on Sydney Rd, however, Malabar hut has definitely taken over. Staff are mostly good and atmosphere is great considering the prices. The food is excellent. There are already enough comments about cleanliness here, however, people are quick to judge on things like hygiene with zero empirical testing, so go find somewhere you 'think' is cleaner if you're concerned that your superior breeding won't cope with the charms of this great little eatery!

Superb and cheap food good customer service and friendly staff especially kozhikkodan mutton biryani yummy and kerala paratha's delicious.

This is a better place to dine than others a couple of doors down on Sydney Road. Well, the food is good, particularly the pittu, dhal and lamb curry. Try the mixed fried rice, they are both awesome. Staff, average but there is a question about cleanliness. A friend of mine found a little piece of steel wool in his roti, which goes to question the cleanliness and care.

Would I visit the place again? Well, the sooner I forget the steel wool, the sooner I would return...but doesn't look like any time soon.

One of the few indian restaurants in Melbourne that had some level of authenticity. This place is very south indian, in particular Keralite. So it only makes sense to try the awesome cuisine that comes from the south of india. Good value, friendly staff.

Most food on the menu used to be good, standard, especially cleanliness, coming down, which is usually the case with Indian Restaurants. These days only certain food, e.g. Kozhikkodan biriyani is the only good one. Try to avoid lamb dishes from here!
