Overview of The Long Table

First established in 2003, the Long Table Bar & Dining Room will not be out of place as a top Melbourne restaurant. Only this little gem of a place is tucked away in Red Hill, floating over hype with its use of local produce to concoct food with complex, delicious flavours. You can go for different dining experiences in one place. Consider the menus: the more relaxed tapas and wine bar menu, the Mornington Peninsula Tasting lunch menu and the full a la carte dinner menu. The drinks are devoted to local as well, with ales from the Red Hill Brewery and other Red Hill sources. Service is top notch at The Long Table and more importantly, the cuisine has a delicacy, freshness and fullness that takes epicures to a higher level.

The food and atmosphere here is amazing, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant without hesitation, brilliant and indeed worth the visit!

I cannot fault this restaurant. The bustling mood of the dining room was the perfect atmosphere for a cosy dinner after a long day talking with winemakers. The service was casual and friendly. We had to wait at the bar for a table, but that experience alone was like sitting at my local pub enjoying a lazy drink.

Initially, we were stopping in for a quick, warm feed before a long rest, but the food was so good we stayed for 3 courses, each one tasty and generous.
Recommended for every trip to Red Hill region.

Visited the long table on a sunday night and was very lucky to get a booking as the place was packed but was very very happy that we did, the menu was excellent and the meals we ordered were incredible, possibly one of the best meals I've had at a restaurant near/in Melbourne.

Main meals range between $30 to $40 but I found the price worth it, we ordered the rabbit, scallops, ox cheek, wagyu steak and monkfish. The wagyu wasn't as exciting as in some places but the ox cheek was extremely good and very tender as was the rabbit and scallops. Definitely would visit again. Only downside was that due to being so busy on a sunday night they were, perhaps, a little understaffed with some very large tables in the place so we had to wait a little too often, only reason the place doesn't get a full 10/10.
