Fantastic Wine list, the food was delicious, though my pork neck which was lovely, was an overly generous serv, it was a dish for 2 and my partner could not finish. I would have liked to have at least 1 soft cows cheese on the cheese list, we opted for the Roquefort, it was initially a bit cold. Over all though it was a lovely evening and I definitely plan a return visit.

    delicious wine

Went a few weeks ago at the end of winter/start of spring on a Saturday night. We were the first people there at 6:00pm booking, so we got great service straight up and some fantastic drinks recommendations from the lovely waitress.
Dinner was lovely without being spectacular, although my partner's terrine starter was a standout!

Great bottle of wine at a very reasonable cost, and I love when you ask you for recommendations and they don't automatically gravitate towards the more expensive bottles on the list. Had a couple of fantastic drinks with dessert too, ask for recommendations. Ended up being about $250 for two people for the night, which isn't too bad considering we 3 courses each, aperitifs, a bottle of wine, a dessert wine each, and tea and coffee. Atmosphere is fantastic, I remember loving the music! Recommended.

We went BYO (I love that) midweek in winter, cassoulet night and manjimup truffles on offer. Wow. these guys are the real deal, authentic french cafe/bistro feel, high quality food (no hats I can't believe it. To be critical the tables are close. Go to this place order the degustation, be specific on your choices and your evening will be sublimed.

Dependable French bistro cuisine with a few small twists. The smaller dining room downstairs is preferable. Excellent wine list, with BYO not a problem.

Dined in a group of eight, including two younger-than-16s. Each person had a entree and main, with a few sides. Personally, I had the duck and rabbit sausage for entree with a rich white (possibly root vegetable) gravy. A little dry, but the gravy was well-done. For main I had the breast of pigeon, served on a bed of lentils. The meat was rare, but extremely tasty.

The restaurant has an upstairs and a downstairs, the downstairs feeling more like a small-style restaurant cafe while the upstairs is much more opulent in it's decor. The furniture and fittings, in concordance with the pleasing lighting, serves to give the upstairs room a warm feel. I highly recommend a table there rather than downstairs.

The service was excellent. The staff were polite, helpful and entertaining. When I asked what a "praline" was, the waitress honestly admitted she didn't know, but returned soon after with a definition after consulting with the chefs, including some additional information which, while unnecessary to my initial enquiry, was very helpful and informative.

This was a special night out. Not usually one to frequent a top-notch restaurant, Libertines made me wish I did. The atmosphere, we were upstairs next to the fireplace and with a maximum of 20 people in the room it felt quaint, relaxed and yet regal. The food, we had a degustation menu with wine each, I had a chef selection of vegetarian fare and my husband had the non-vegetarian degustation.

Every one of the eight meals were bigger than I expected and tastes were fresh and vibrant, the beetroot agnolotti with a butter and sage sauce (their wording a lot more extravagant than mine, apologies) was to die for. The wines were matched with our meals and with their large tastings the flavours were not lost. The ambience, we had a great time with the staff and felt as if we amongst friends. Price, compared to other degustation venues we felt we ripped them off. It was half the price of similar restaurants that offered a degustation. We will definitely be going back and soon!

I was expecting a lot after friends had given this a good review, but I was disappointed. The food was not very traditional French, but more modern. It was average and poor value. The waiters were very helpful though.
